Cobbling - The ins and outs

I know I'm likely a minority here when making this post but I'm rather interested in picking up cobbling for my character. I've looked on krakiipedia for a guide there and found it a decent read.

What I would like to know is if there are any other cobbling afficianados here or otherwise any other great cobbling guides I can read up on in helping me make my decision on pursuing this possibly. Keep in mind as of this very moment I have no idea about anything cobbling related, so go slow with me please.

What do you intend to do with your cobbling skill? Obviously, making shoes, but what for? To sell them, to enhance your own wardrobe, etc.
