I had some sad news in my email inbox this morning, about the passing of Cyrroc's player Michael. I thought I'd post it here for those of you that knew him.
This is x-posted from the officials, from the player of Astari.
"This is not a post that I am finding it easy to write. For those that new the character Cyrroc, I am sorry to say that his player has passed away. I do not have any of the details on his passing but a post made by his son on his Facebook that I will share with those of you here. I am cross posting this in the town folder as I know he was a large part of the recent invasions and I believe was one of the recognized as a hero of landing. The officers of White Haven are currently planning a memorial for him in game and all are welcome to attend that wish. More information will be posted onto the memorial as we have it. He will be missed by those of us for certain and I am sure by many more in the community. The post is as follows;
This is Brian Mike's son to all of you that loved my father.I wan't all of that he is onto a better place and know that he is sick no longer. He is looking down on you taking deep full breaths keeping his eye on you happy to watch and help guide all of us in the right direction. Please don't be sad for him or for us just remember a good time you and him had together or a time when he really made ...you laugh and always remember him like that. I know some of you on here are from the games he played online and a lot of you knew him just as well as anyone else so if there is anything you would like to do for him in the game or anything else that you may need some assistance with if you contact me I will be more than glad to help. To everyone that loved him I thank you for all the prayers in his last days and he truly knew he was blessed when he passed and he was in no pain.
Player of Astari"
We will miss you Michael, but we know you're no longer in pain, and that's a good thing. :hug2:

Cyrroc was a great guy and I'm sad to hear he passed. He had the patience of a saint and I had fun testing it. I dont think I ever once saw him be anything but kind and generous. I'll miss him.

Cyrroc and I were best of friends. Nothing I can say will be able to express how much he will be missed.

Ignoring any practicalities for a moment, I just wanted to say that I think it would be nice to have a shrine in for players like Cyrroc's who have perished. Something like Hall of the Fallen or something. A place where statues could be erected, offerings could be made, vigils held, etc. I know there would be certain difficulties and it may not in fact be practical, but I just wanted to put the idea out there.
It was always a pleasure playing with Cyrroc. He's one of the good ones and will be missed.
Cyrroc says, "Most in this town will vouch that I'm a gentleman."
Cyrroc was a great guy, I used to hunt with him back in minotaurs and the bowels. R.I.P.

They do, it's called Halcyon Hills. Not sure how you go about setting it up.

White Haven is going to be hosting a memorial service on Saturday the 25th at 10pm EST. All are welcome to attend. This will be held at Halcyon Hills lake side. The house is going to provide the dedication candles for those attending. Any and all who wish to speak and share a memory of the character are encouraged to do so. Officers will be running between Icemule Trace Town Center, Landing Town Square Central and the location of the memorial starting at about 9pm EST for those that need help getting there.

Cyrroc, you will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, brother.
An ironic GM should create an invasion at the memorial.

This was an email from White Haven's Provost, Richaard:
Along with the memorial service this Saturday, we have the option to always remember Cyrroc at Halycon hills. We can have something created in Cyrroc's memory - tree, flower, bier, or bench. Myself, Murkshev, and Dannah thought a tree would be perfect. I think most would agree and hopefully we can just go ahead and say... we want a tree?
Next, we have to have a spot to plant this tree. Talking to Murkshev, I believe it needs to be planted where we are having the memorial on Saturday. But Thandiwe said we have to have 3 areas in case one doesn't work out. As Murkshev is his best friend, I told Murk to pick the other two. So these are the three in order:
1.) Several hand-carved golden oak benches lie just before the shoreline, their wood badly weathered from time and long use. The two benches are positioned perfectly to provide a view of the no doubt breathtaking sunsets and sunrises visible over the tranquil lake.
2.) The trees around you are thinner here, and you find yourself standing before a large, tranquil lake. Bright silvery moonlight dances beautifully upon the water. Several candles can be seen floating in the distance, their pale flames barely visible. The shrill cry of a bird suddenly pierces the silence as it flies by with a large silvery fish in its beak.
3.) Small waves roll slowly toward you, gently striking the grass at the lake's edge. Other than the gentle lapping of the waves and the distant chirping of crickets from the north, no sound penetrates the tranquility of this lakefront. A single candle lies on the ground before you, its wick long burned to dust and its golden beeswax polished smooth by the water. Dozens more float in the distance, their tiny flames all dancing in the same rhythm.
Here's what you can do if you'd like to petition for a memorial:
STEP 1: START UP YOUR EMAIL AND CREATE A NEW MESSAGE
STEP 2: ADDRESS THE EMAIL TO "GS4-Sirina@play.net"
STEP 3: SUBJECT TITLE YOUR EMAIL "Prime - Memorial Service Petition for Cyrroc"
STEP 4: IN BODY OF YOUR EMAIL -- state your name, account name, and your desire to have a memorial created for Cyrroc in the Halcyon Hills
STEP 5: HIT THAT SEND BUTTON

Aside from Halcyon Hills, there's also Twilight Hall's Remembrance. It's open to all. It's not specific to any players, but offers a way for characters to remember anyone they wish by lighting a candle on the stone.
