Question about Weapon Bonding.

I was reading krakiipedia, and it said to further bond with the weapon I need to gain experience with it by getting "same level kills". My question is can I kill enemies at a lower level, but it just takes longer?

The answer is yes. As long as you learn from the critter, and have the weapon in hand when the kill is made, you will progress. Note that the weapon does not even have to make the kill, you just need to hold it.
