Prizes in Cereal Boxes

Okay, it's been a while since I've made a completely useless thread..(or has it? :?: )

Anyway, upon staring at the various boxes of cereal on top of my fridge, I realized that...it's been forever since I've seen prizes..like candy, toys, etc. in the cereal boxes. Anyone else notice this? Or know why? Silly, but this intrigues me.

I need a new hobby.

Prizes in cereals aren't what they used to be. Nowadays they are toys that you have to send out for, the ones right in the box are becoming less common.

This is why I still eat Cracker Jack. They've stayed true and keep giving those fake, tacky tattoos. Woohoo!

I have seen alot of CD's and free games that way but your right, i havent seen many free toys.

It's probably a lot cheaper if they make you send away for them.

Plus they suck you in to having to buy more. And fewer people are willing to redeem than if you stuffed it all in.

I remember a long time ago...

there was this cereal with the frog on the front. I think it was called Smacks. they had little coins from other countries in a cardboard and plastic sleeve as the prize. on the cardboard it says not to remove the coin. so I did what any other kid my age would have done. I ripped that thing open to get my cool otherly country money. boy oh boy was I upset. the thing was plastic! I was soooo pissed! I remember going to the store shortly after and telling everyone on the cereal aisle not to get any Smacks cause it was an imposter coin.

The best prizes were in Froot Loops, because every once in awhile you'd find this chunk of sugar that was a manufacturing error or something. Mmmmm, sugar.

The only thing I can think of is some moron 4 year old choked on a stupid prize somehow, and then someone got sued so they decided to have people send away for them.

People need to stop ruining the few pleasures we have left on Earth.

The last prize I got from a food box wasn't even from a cereal box.. It was an AOL free minutes CD inside my FROZEN pizza box.
I laughed so hard and saved it to show my siblings.

I remember getting all sorts of cheap, cheesey little toys in my cereal.. and it was exciting at the time. I guess they aren't incentive enough to make the kids of today buy them though.
