I did read a story last night that he canceled yesterday's show suddenly and released a statement saying there had been a family emergency and he probably wouldn't be back until next week.
If he died my black liberal heart would break and I would cry and cry.

Wikipedia doesn't say he is dead, so I refuse to believe you.

‘Colbert Report’ Suspended Without Explanation
By DAVE ITZKOFF
A spokesman for Comedy Central said on Thursday morning that the taping of “The Colbert Report” had been suspended on Wednesday evening and would be again on Thursday due to “unforeseen circumstances,” but the network did not immediately provide additional details of what led to the cancellations.
Audience members who planned to attend Wednesday’s taping of Stephen Colbert’s satirical news show wrote online that they had been sent notices from “The Colbert Report,” telling them the taping was canceled and that they would have to make reservations for a new date. Instead of broadcasting a new show, which was to have featured Claire Danes as a guest, Comedy Central showed a rerun on Wednesday night.
The author Susan Cain, who was to have appeared on Thursday’s taping of the show, wrote on her Twitter feed that this taping had been canceled as well and that her booking had been rescheduled for March.
Steve Albani, a spokesman for Comedy Central, said in an e-mail: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.” Customarily “The Colbert Report” does not tape new episodes on Fridays.

Colbert's mother seriously ill, report sources close to the show
Multiple outlets have cited a family illness as the cause of the suspension of "The Colbert Report," and now a person who has a business relationship with the show has told Huffington Post that the host's mother is seriously ill, and the show will remain suspended until he can return.
Fans and supporters have been tweeting messages of love and support for Colbert and his family throughout the day.
Colbert was born the youngest of 11 children to mother Lorna, 91, and father James, who died in a plane accident in 1974 along with two of Colbert's brothers.
Lorna Colbert appeared on a South Carolina television station talking about her famous son in 2008.

Oh, that's too bad, he always talks about his mother. He seems to really care a lot about her.

Seems to be his mother's (sudden?) poor health.

Well, she's 91. I don't think poor health is sudden at that age, even if it just happens.

If she dies at 91, we should do an autopsy to see why she died..
