Anyone else play this or the Final Fantasy series?

I've been playing the US and Jap variants since the first one on the NES. I missed a couple of the GB ones. Wasn't a huge fan of FF XIII but this sequel is a little better.

I do enjoy all the hidden things to do in these games and how "beating" the game really opens a much larger world. It was more prevalent in FF XIII then the sequel, but still entertaining.

Not nearly as fun as FF VII, however.

Mmmm FF7.. Oh how I wish for a HD remake or a sequel. Second best in the series, right after Tactics.

There was a 'prequel' on the PSP called Crisis Core. It was pretty good.

Tactics is fucking awesome. I still play through that shit at least once a year.

I played ff13 for a few hours, became increasingly irritated at it's linear nature, and traded it in at gamestop, willing losing money because it sucked so bad I just wanted it gone.

I've always been tempted to buy a PSP just for that game alone. Easily in my top 10 favorite videogames of all time. I convinced my mom to import the game for me when it first came out in Japan. I thought her head was going to explode when the person on the phone told her how much it was going to cost her.

Am I reading this right; Final Fantasy 13 - Part 2?

Yes. It is a direct sequel. I played the first one for about 3 hours and took it back. I haven't liked Final Fantasy since the SNES.

I enjoyed FF13 very much. I had a few issues with it, but enjoyed it overall. I have every intention of purchasing FF13-2, when I have the money to do so.

Just picked it up yesterday, but I haven't beat 13 yet so I am finishing that up. Which should be "soon".

They've been pulling this sequel shit since FF 10 right? These cartoony characters with permanent smiles on their faces and their technocolor dreamcoats do not warrant a sequel. Also how many roman numerals does it take to confuse the fuck out of the Japanese.

Only a few have gotten direct sequels.

I count 3. FF7's Crisis Core, FF10 with the bouncy cheerleader girls (Which was annoying as fuck), and now FF13.

I regret to inform you, you've counted incorrectly.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV:_The_After_Years)

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_12:_Revenant_Wings)

That brings the total to five, and my count and recollection may be off too.

Ha! I had no idea there was a sequel to 4. I know about Revenant Wings, but never really thought about it because 12 was just so bad....

That Revenant Wing game doesn't count, just a mobile game designed by someone other than Square Eniz. Otherwise you'd have a ton of shitty FF games to include.

Crisis Core was AWESOME. They did a very good job with the battle system for the PSP. I enjoyed it.

In my opinion FFXIII-2 is better than FFXIII. The battle system is better with random encounters, with the mog clock. I hated having to sneak up on things and the last minute they may have turned a fraction of an inch. The storyline is wicked cool. The DLC's are worth it. The crystarium gives you increased ability for customization, which I'm stoked about. The added conversation choices are sweet and it's like a "choose your own adventure" feature; I can see where I would be able to go through this again and get different story plots. I'm not very far yet but so far I'm happy with it.

FFXIII was slow at first but it does improve tremendously after act 9. Does take a bit to get there, just have to power through it.

By the way.. No love for Dirge of Cerberus? Did I miss someone mentioning it?

I'm not really sure where you get this idea from, but that's not my impression of the game's development.

For gamecube right? I thought it was terrible.

Despite the simplicity of it, I enjoyed Mystic Quest.

As for Crystal Chronicals... I never played it.

Heh, I was just a kid when I played Mystic Quest. I enjoyed it then. I also agree that Chronicals was something to be pooped on.

Yeah and if you wanted you could get other people to play it on Game Boy Advanced. Blech.

Still no thoughts on Dirge of Cerberus? It didn't seem to get that much fame.

Anyway, I need to get some face time in on FFXIII-2. How far are you people?

I played Final Fantasy 7 and was so impressed by the awesomeness that I automatically assumed every FF game would be awesome. A few years later I tried 12 and haven't played another since.

7 is over rated. I think 9 is better than 7. Not to take away from 7 because it was an awesome game.

So far I'm enjoint 13-2...It's not super duper awesome like 7 ( I'm a big fan of 10 as well ), but it's not bad. Probobally would have been better with different characters and some slight tweaks as a nice reboot to chrono trigger...the time travel aspects seem kinda fun and decently done so far, it's not quite as linear as 13 was. I do feel kinda jipped that they kept the paradigm system ( which I do kinda like actually ) but didn't add any new roles.

That being said, it's not the best but it's in the top half of FF games...I'd say a strong 6, weak 7 on a 1-10.

Speaking of FF7 ... why the heck would they not *re-release* it now and then???

The fan-demand is clearly there...

I love some of the comments on that page.

I'd love to see a remake of the game myself.
