All,

Odd request....is it possible to set up a mic on so that it cuts out and doesn't trasmit loud "bursts" of noise? Dog barking as an example.

Some software drivers for some mics have a noise leveling effect. I don't know of any that will outright mute the dog, but they can normalize the dog bark to be at the same volume as everything else.

If you're using some form of voice chat, I don't think Vent/Teamspeak support this yet but Mumble does something similar.

Using a VoIP solution, I've got some coworkers that work from home and their dogs bark from time to time. Not a huge issue just kind of annoying when you're on the phone with a client.

My dogs are normally pretty quiet when I work from home. And before everyone from Vent calls bullshit remember when I'm working from home it's just me in the house and I don't have two midgets chasing dogs around to get them barking.

Have you considered Mumble? That would do exactly what you want.

Yeah I've used mumble in the past, wouldn't work for this though it's the company's VoIP ties in with internal IM, web meetings, video conferencing, etc. and I doubt I could convince them to move off of it after they spent the cash to implement it.

Fun fact the guy that picked the solution and was in charge of implementation is not technical at all (he also doesn't seem to possess common sense) so I'm not sure how this project was given to him but eh gotta work with what we're given at this point.

I always thought that was your wife in the background.
