Does anyone have any specific information on how this CMAN works? It seems like there's very little info out there, other than a really old thread on here.

Does it provide any bonuses at all when grouped with someone that doesn't have the skill? I realize the text says no, but someone in the ancient thread implied it did, just less so.

Does anyone have any numbers on exactly how big the bonuses are?

Caps out at like +20 or +25 AS/DS.

I'm pretty sure the people joined need at least some CM to start triggering the ability.

There were a few of us that did some research a few years back. I believe it was me, Kitsun, Swami, Brute, and/or some other people. Someone else want to chime in with that thread?

Some CM, or specifically some side by side CM ranks?

I just started to type up what I know of side by side before I realized how really complicated it is. The simple version is that only the people in the group with side by side will get the affects of it. The more people in the group with ranks of side by side, the greater the effect. So, unless you have a group willing to train a bunch of side by side, it's not that great. I had a group of 5 people, all trained to at least 3 ranks, with two at all 5 ranks. It was worth it then, but in a smaller group, it won't be so beneficial.

Thanks very much for the information!

Would be really nice to see that being changed so that those who train in it benefit from it even if their group doesn't. (Maybe half bonus for non-trained users?)

From my understanding of the cman, only those who train in side by side benefit, so long as they are grouped with others who have alot of CM ranks (and a greater benefit if grouped with those who also have side by side ranks).

I don't see why the non trained users really should benefit as they don't know the manuever.

Edit: I think what I tried to say is a change isn't necessary as I think that is exactly how the cman currently works. I may be wrong as I never tried that one.

So many fluctuations in my AS, i don't even keep track anymore.

Gob, CM: 101, sidebyside 5
Brute, CM: 202, sidebyside 5
Tiner, CM: 0

BRUTE SWINGING
No Group
AS: +126 vs DS: +415 with AvD: +17 + d100 roll: +89 = -183
Grouped with Tiner
AS: +134 vs DS: +415 with AvD: +17 + d100 roll: +3 = -261
Grouped with Gob
AS: +139 vs DS: +184 with AvD: +19 + d100 roll: +80 = +54
Grouped with Both
AS: +143 vs DS: +360 with AvD: -23 + d100 roll: +19 = -221

GOB SWINGING
No Group
AS: +51 vs DS: +354 with AvD: +6 + d100 roll: +37 = -260
With Tiner
AS: +54 vs DS: +368 with AvD: +6 + d100 roll: +36 = -272
With Brute
AS: +57 vs DS: +184 with AvD: +14 + d100 roll: +78 = -35
With Both
AS: +58 vs DS: +404 with AvD: +6 + d100 roll: +17 = -323

This is a really interesting post. It seems to suggest that what matters most is how many people you are grouped with and how many CM ranks you have.

Anyone ever tested how this works with hidden characters? Do they add properly to the SbS bonus of their group? Does the group add properly to the hidden characters SbS bonus?

It should not work that way just from the flavor of what the CMAN is. You're fighting rank and file with other people. Someone jumping in and out of shadows isn't by your side.

If it doesn't I agree it should be affected by stalked group members. While an enemy might think you're alone, YOU know what weakness of yours your friend is covering. Really would like to see the costs of this skill dropped down overall but especially for semis and pures. I find it a great idea for a skill but at 45 ranks for a semi and 60 for a pure...well thats 1/4 and over 1/2 your max CM at cap. Why bother?

Yeah, I was under the impression that the intention of the maneuver was to increase group hunting by providing incentives.

But ultimately, I could imagine a number of ways they intend it to work and a similarly large set of ways that it actually works.

So, little update here, if anyone is curious. I've got three ranks of it now.

I'm almost 2x CMANs, and my two main hunting partners are around 1x and have no SbS training.

Hunting with just one, either one, gives me +5. Hunting with both is +8.

At rank 5, I get +7 bonus for being grouped with one person who has ZERO CM training.

Wow. Yeah, I'm gonna take it to five ranks, then. I almost never hunt alone.
