So everyone is all assed up about Star Wars right now ( and I'm not saying that's not rightfully so )...and before that was RIFT...but what's the next one that we'll all be drooling over that I should be ramping myself up over?
Or should I finally break down and make a character for Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

Diablo XXII
I doubt there will ever be a WoW beater until they make a complete copy of the same formula but with better graphics and technology put to use.

I look forward heavily to Dark Millennium Online, which is a Warhammer 40k MMO coming out in 2013. It probably won't knock anything out of prevalence, but it is sounding pretty good with what they have out about it.

I'm still confused what WoW has that SWToR doesn't other than arenas. Is it content? Last time I played WoW I grinded BG's all day (check), ran dailies (check), heroics (check) and raids (check). What am I missing?

MMO has been a dieing genre since WoW came out. they might have had a huge spike in players from WoW but its killed the games. I missed when MMO's were designed to be fun and challenging and played as part of a group. these days its all a "casual" mind numbing follow the arrow solo quest grind until you hit cap and then you turn around and start grouping to get the best items.
next great MMO... doubt I'll ever see a great MMO again

Good point. There's always the trust fallback - DoTA / HoN. :)
I suppose since it was the very best for a long time and groundbreaking when it came out, that every other MMO is compared to it since.
I think there will be a rose-tinted view of it forever or until something utterly new comes along.

I think Drayal was being sarcastic.
Dark Millenium gets my vote as well. I don't really like the MMO genre, I think there are too many limitations in them, but I won't deny getting giddy over a WH40k MMO.
One of my biggest gripes with some of these games is the factions. I think Dark Ages of Camelot nailed it by having 3 factions for players to choose from. I don't have numbers to back up this opinion but I would think that helps out a lot in terms of not having one side that is player heavy.

Will not GW2 be emphasizing the group dynamic?

Gw2 looks like it might have serious potential.

I agree. Even if one faction is overpopulated it would lead the others to form an alliance which would even things out. I say they add Mandalorians as a faction in SWToR. It's fitting, and with the whole mirror class thing not too difficult. The hard part would be the story - which I suppose is a significant investment.

Sort of a dorky idea, but I'd love if google would somehow combine the google maps feature with census information to create a zombie apocolypse MMO based off of real architecture and population densities and such.
Rebuilding society would be dandy, and if you die, you get to be the zombies!

Hoping DM is something along the lines of Imperium/Chaos/Orks.

They've confirmed Imperium and there are screenshots of people playing Chaos. I don't see how they could leave orks out (Or even Eldar), unless they do something stupid like sticking them with Chaos. I think Tau was shown aswell.

Addons.
I'm playing both and still enjoy WoW more than SWTOR.

I always disliked addons (PvP only, mind you). I did have a nice collection of auction house addons and things like that.

Let me help you out and confirm Imperium for every 40k game. That should make things easier.

LoL isn't bad but it's too (don't take this wrong) dumbed down. Everytime I play it I miss having a homecoming stone and denying creeps. LoL's community is far more forgiving though. HoN is full of assholes... probably why I fit in so well.

I used to play DotA a LONG time ago. I was pretty damn good at it. I'm sure I would fit in pretty well with the HoN group, but I'm in a good place with LoL...so I don't see myself leaving it.

I stand corrected. The game released only to sell Tau featured Tau as the only playable race. It was also terrible.

I don't understand the point of LoL (and, though I've never played it, HoN). You control one character (unlike SC) and he has 3 abilities with what, 5 ranks? Plus two long cooldowns you pick before you can even see your opposing team? How is that hard?
From what I could tell, it was all about coordinating with other people and knowing how to click a screen.

4 abilities per champion. 3 having 5 ranks, 1 having 3. For most characters, 3 of the 4 abilities are close to spammable and the other having a reasonable long cooldown (60m-180m).
As well, there have been ranked draft modes for some time now so that you're not picking blindly vs. the other team. There now is some sort of degree of skill to learn to counter your opponents with specific champions and tactics. The game is all about teamwork, especially vs. high elo teams.

There is an INCREDIBLE amount of skill involved in "high level" play for DoTA, HoN, and LoL.

Sometimes I go outside and run around in the forest and pretend I'm a troll. I dont have a raptor *yet* but it is multiplayer if I take some gay marathoners.
No but seriously. I wish Diablo would hurry up so I could quit excercising.
