I returned relatively recently and noticed a lot of posts of pures who 1x PF. I checked out krakiipedia and see that it helps with critter maneuvers. Has this always been the case? Thought pures were expected to stop PF once they maxed out HP. Is 1x worth the benefits?
Thanks,
raddy

I was PF to 24 ranks (max HP) up until critters started doing more maneuevers, around mid 40s lower 50s.. It definitely helps. I'm 1x PF and can't imagine not having it.

It is worth it near - at cap, not so much before IMO. Perception also helps against maneuvers as well as a lot of other systems.
We didn't know that PF helped with SMRs until relatively recently.
I knew since like 98 so.. Thanks a lot. See you later.

I followed a similar path to what Kronius mentioned, sticking with about 24 ranks until about 40-50 and than starting to up PF until I got to 1x. The timing for increasing this may vary based on what you prefer to hunt, and if you are training in Preception or other skills that might help with CM's. By about your mid 60's though I think you'll find a huge benefit in being 1x, especially if you hunt the Landing Stronghold/Bowels/Labyrinth. The critters in the Skull Temple and Tower in the EN are not as manuever heavy, so you could wait a little longer.

EN hunting is definitely easier than other places as a sorcerer.

Thanks for all the help. Do you think OTF are the easiest grounds for a mid-80's trained sorcerer?

I've heard most suggest waiting till mid-high 80's to hunt Nelemar. I think which is better will be based on your training path really. Nelemar is heavy on maneuvers and requires heavy training in swimming.
In OTF in your mid 80's I think your biggest issue will that the lower Ithizir Scounts/Adepts seem to be commonly found in the same area's as war griffin's, Seers, Heralds etc. I personally just prefer EN to Teras, so I tend to stick with Beings/Taints and likely will until I hit the high 80's before accepting Ithizir tasks or until I have seen that my CS is sufficent enough to ward even the stronger Ithizir regularly enough feel comfortable I can survive.
Just my thoughts.

oh, your other option is obviously the Bowels in the Landing. All I can say is I hate the Bowels. They can fall on you and crush you, stone hand just loves crushing my sorc, although I don't have crit padding which may help there, but I find OTF to be much more sorcerer friendly.
Why does no one mention hunting the Rift? Piss easy.

dark elves, spirit, meh.
I really don't find the Bowels all that challenging. Once again, I'm 1x PF, have HCP doubles and whatnot.
I even use Dark Catalyst exclusively regardless of the gas. It doesn't happen often, and Jarls and Elders drop nicely with good mana return.
I did OTF a few times mid 80s, I didn't really like it. Couldn't kill anything quick, lots of shit in there to fuck your day up, and my Ranger can't get past the barrier for forages. So I just ditched it.
I did Nelemar for a little bit at 86. I was sufficient enough, managed to solo a few bounties wit the help of a lichbane talisman. I probably won't go back full time until about 90ish. My CS was a bit low. I hate not being able to use DC on the lower levels, though...

Your CS will hurt more on the lower levels than the walk of cake that's the 3rd floor.

Do you mean dark elves, CoL, spirit, meh?
My non-CoL sorcerer was never concerned with spirit in the rift.
