My cleric is back in the lands and has a bit before he needs to fix his stats and skills.

I'm not too concerned about stats as I've read a ton of information here on the forums. Thanks all!

15 years ago I used a OHE and a shield. Things are different now. I'm going for the staff approach.

I have a few questions.

1. The cleric is a decent level in Voln. I'm hoping to stick with it. Voln-Fu doesn't seem like my best option now. Smite versus Bane. I should probably stick with undead, right?

2. Halflings have high dexterity so I planned on using 306 often. I read this is not the best option late in training. Am I ok to start this way? I have good access to a lot of wizard type wands.

3. Converting to a god is very new to me. Other than choosing smite versus bane, are there benefits from one choice to the next?

4. Armor? Should I go further than doubles? I'm thinking I should.

Thanks in advance for the help. I will post if I think of any other questions while trying to fine-tune this cleric.

I should probably stick with undead, right?If you're wanting to advance Voln, yes, stick with undead. However, if you care only about the effectiveness of 302, this decision is based on your deity choice.

I have good access to a lot of wizard type wands.It's fine to start with. The main issue late level, with any training path, is that CS hunting is far superior. Definitely take 306 for a spin with lesser vruul at level 40.




3. Converting to a god is very new to me. Other than choosing smite versus bane, are there benefits from one choice to the next?Nothing mechanically earth shattering. The only major mechanical aspect is 302 and 319. Other aspects are mood messaging and some GM's (for merchants, events, etc) put up deity blocks. However, as long as there's a 1:1 ratio for Liabo/Lornon merchants, this isn't an issue.




4. Armor? Should I go further than doubles? I'm thinking I should.If you're thinking you should, then jump into brigandine. You MAY give thought to chainmail, but it's a steep jump from brigandine.. especially pre-cap.
