I never used to care about the Solstice. Then I moved to Minneapolis. When the sun starts going down earlier and earlier and earlier, until its dark at 4:30... I don't care if it's still cold, just as long as I get to see the sun occasionally going to or from work.

Agreed, it's rare I get to use my sunglasses during the winter months here in Indy. Dark when I leave the house; dark when I leave the office.

In Vegas I didn't feel it was quite as bad.

According to WeatherSpark (http://weatherspark.com/), Vegas's sun up today was 6:52am, and sundown is 4:24pm with a maximum solar elevation of 30.2 degrees... Minneapolis sun up is 7:54am, and sundown is 4:29pm and a max solar elevation of 21.5 degrees...

So I guess Vegas had quite a bit more sun than Minneapolis and it FEELS like it. I feel like I never see the sun anymore. So I get to know that every day gets a bit more sun.
