I used to be a 40 level Wizard... rerolled about a month prior to them announcing that they would be updating to GS4. I leveled him up a bunch, but took a vacation from GS before the beta system went in. I am kinda confused with the whole ruestaff thing, also with the new skills I kinda forgot my training plan. I am currently a 17 training Dark Elf, wanna be a pure caster. I have gotten mixed opinion on the runestaff way, and am leaningmore towards staying an edged/shield user. Can someone give me some advice in a viable training plan? Or guide me to a link with a guide? I tried searching for one but gave up after an hour of searching and being frustrated. I was lucky enough to come across these forums in my search. Any help is appreciated, I have no idea where to begin again.

Nilandia's is a good place to start, after reading on some of the changes you can follow up with these.
Runestaff wizard guide...

GS4.org - Some guides, I don't agree with some of it but its a place to start...
http://www.gs4.org/index.php?pagename=Wizard&op=modload&name=pnPhpWik i&file=index
There's a ton of 'viable' training paths. It is actually kinda hard to completely screw one up(although I have seen some pretty good screwups).
Above all - Remember the character is a wizard. Most spells implemented have that in mind and will check for the corresponding skill requirements. Neglect one facet at the risk of not being able to utilize it in the future.

I have a total of 660 at base... If I reallocate them does it drop me at 640? Maybe I'm trippin but I thought I read that somewhere. And as for that... I have the generic ones they pick for you... should I alter them a bit?

All characters in GS4 should get 620 + 20 for profession bonus.
As for runestaves vs. sword/shield, I believe total DS difference is a max of +50. I am using a runestaff because I love having the free hand. I do not lose any DS when picking up loot, and I can hold a wand without the DS loss too.

Ok... so my month is up tomorrow. I'm 20 right now, realistically I don't think I will get to 100. It's not that important to me to be completely at 100's in stats. However, I want to change the ones that were assigned to me. Can someone help me with stat selection, I'm not too great with that trainer. These are what I currently have:
Level 0 Stats for Frestall, Dark Elf Wizard
Strength (STR): 50
Constitution (CON): 40
Dexterity (DEX): 90
Agility (AGI): 50
Discipline (DIS): 70
Aura (AUR): 90
Logic (LOG): 90
Intuition (INT): 50
Wisdom (WIS): 80
Influence (INF): 50
I am 20 right now... just want a good blend of maximum growth and playability.

Don't ask me or listen to my opinions on this one since you want to be a pure caster.........

I do not know how much help this will be, because I selected these stats for level 80. I would suggest you put Aura higher.
These numbers will get you all 100s at 100 except for ST & CO which will be in the 80s.
info start
Level 0 Stats for Askip, Dark Elf Wizard
Strength (STR): 69
Constitution (CON): 50
Dexterity (DEX): 49
Agility (AGI): 73
Discipline (DIS): 77
Aura (AUR): 66
Logic (LOG): 68
Intuition (INT): 62
Wisdom (WIS): 73
Influence (INF): 73
Your best bet is to get Tsorans spreadsheet and play with the numbers.

Am I gonna still have stat placement options or does it have to be done before the 30? I already got my skills the way I want them, I'm just not sure about stats.

According to a GM Brauden post, all characters transferred from GS3 to GS4 will be able to use their 5 stat reallocations at anytime, they will not expire.
PCs rolled up in GS4 have the 30 day limit.
