I was a doubter, but Christ.

I think I'm a fan now.

$100 on Denver Broncos money line to win each of the last 6 games would have won $38,450.

Whatever. Special teams won that game, not Prayer McPrayerson.

I haven't bet against Tebow since he took over the show in Denver. They'll be in the Super Bowl this year and then the world will end.

So you guys think that Orton would have won all these games?

As much as I like Orton, his battles with Grossman in Chicago for the starting position, the trade for Cutler, and then Denver's draft of Tebow pretty much killed his confidence. His career in the NFL has been playing second seat to inferior QBs.

It was pointed out in week 11 ... Orton isn't a motivator, he's bland. Tebow is the opposite. He finished last season, yardage wise, in the league's top 10 with three less games than the other 9 guys. He could have averaged 500 a game and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Tebow is this year's wild cat. He'll get some results until the rest of the league adjusts, then he'll have to learn to play his position or suffer the fate of every other QB in the league that is on the receiving end of lots and lots of hard contact. As far as the post season goes .. they'll see it, but only because the AFC west is a collection of best of the bottom of the barrel. Don't count much coming of it though.

So you guys think that Orton would have won all these games?Do I think Orton could have set up a 59 yard field goal try? Yes. The real question is if they played each of those games 10 times, do you think the Broncos would have gone 60-10, or even won the majority?

I saw a great stat today that Tebow just set the record for most 4th quarter / overtime game-winning drives for a quarterback in his first 11 starts or something. The old record-holder? Jake Delhomme. The point being: let's not suck his popsicle just yet.

Here's my thing. I get that no other QB's have ever done what Tebow has done. But how many other QBs are the size of your average fullback/tight end/linebacker, have 38" verticals, and can bench 400 pounds? Slightly different mold than Michael Vick, and if he can continue INITIATING contact rather than absorbing it, I think he'll be ok. Mug also has huge arms and a major stiff-arm.

Ok ok, it has. :)

I love these conversations:

Fact:
Tim Tebow is ranked 14th in QB rating out of 32 starting QB's.

Fact:
He started after virtually no practice at the QB position during training camp.

Fact:
He is 6-1. 2 best win % of any active QB.

Fact:
He doesn't throw interceptions - listen to any other team talk about a rookie QB and that is the biggest thing they ask, ball control.

Fact:
Show just his stats compared to another similiar QB's in a blind "who do we want to be our QB"....

And you'd pick Tim Tebow.. OVER Michael Vick or most anyone else.

Broncos points per game with Quarterback A starting: 21.0
Broncos points per game with Quarterback B starting: 20.5

Isn't that bizarre? We can also count offensive touchdowns while each QB was in the game.
Quarterback A: 2.00 per game
Quarterback B: 2.00 per game

Seriously! 9/4.5 for Orton and 17/8.5 for Tebow. It seems impossible, but it is true nonetheless.

Turnovers per game;

Quarterback A: 2.25 per game
Quarterback B: .5 per game

Time of possession:

Quarterback A: 26:37 per game
Quarterback B: 31:29 per game

Every time Quarterback A (it's Orton!) played the opponent had 1.75 more possessions and an extra 5 minutes to score.

They can both score the same amount of points on offense and Tebow still gives the Broncos a better chance to win the game.

2 of Orton's 3.5 losses were by 3 points.

Let's also put it like this;

Down by 3 pts. Ball on -opponent's- 38 yard line. 2:00 warning.

This was the scenario week 3 @ Tennessee. Orton was sacked, threw an incomplete pass, and then an interception on 3rd and 11 from the 39 (inside Prater's range).

This was the scenario week 3 @ Tennessee. Orton was sacked, threw an incomplete pass, and then an interception on 3rd and 11 from the 39 (inside Prater's range). These are good points, but I think you go too quickly from "more turnovers" to "more opponent possessions". If we look at Denver's punter, he had 23 punts over the first 5 games (4.6) and 59 over the last 9 (6.56), for a net increase of 1.96 opponent possessions per game. Certainly it's plausible that an interception leads in general to better field position, so not all possessions are created equal, but it's still useful as a rough figure.

I also want to point out something about fumbles, since you are counting those lost as turnovers (and why wouldn't you?). It has been established (ha!) that every team has a 50% chance of recovering fumbles over time, and that deviations are merely statistical noise. With this in mind, we should note that the Broncos lost 5 of their 7 fumbles in their first 5 games (1.5 more than we would expect) but lost 7 of 15 in the last 9 (0.5 less than we would expect). This changes the turnover numbers to:

Orton Express: 1.95
Tebowmania: 0.56

Decreasing the margin by about a third of a possession per game. There is certainly noise in every other statistic, but this one is really easy to correct for.

Now Tim Tebow is interfering with education across the nation!!!

http://riverhead.patch.com/articles/tebowing-lands-four-students-suspensions-nationwide-press-coverage?ncid=webmail10

Announcement of a simple one-day suspension for four student-athletes at Riverhead High School went viral on Thursday as news broke that the students — who administrators say were creating an unsafe environment by blocking the halls — were emulating one of the most talked-about athletes in America over the past two weeks: Tim Tebow.

In an act known as "Tebowing" — according to Tebowing.com, "to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different" — the foursome was part of a larger group seen in a YouTube video kneeling in the halls of the school. One of the students told Yahoo! it was "out of respect for Tebow, and because 'Tebowing' is the new thing to do."

Tebow — a second-year quarterback who has led the Denver Broncos to six straight wins — is known for his devout Christianity and intensity on and off the field. The act has gained popularity as the Broncos have continued to pile up late-game wins.

The students — brothers Tyler and Connor Carroll, and their friends Jordan Fulcoly and Wayne Drexel — had reportedly started the practice on Monday, according to a report in the News-Review.

Yahoo! Sports broke the story early Thursday, later making it to local media. The story also found its way onto ESPN's Sportscenter, which reported that two of the students' suspensions were lifted after administrators found that they were not warned as the other two were.

Superintendent Nancy Carney released the following statement via email: "It’s wonderful that our students look up to sports heroes such as Mr. Tebow, but we can’t allow students to create unsafe situations in school. Students cannot block hallways and prevent other students from getting to class. A couple of students who were spoken to previously did not heed to the warning given by administrators, and they were disciplined accordingly.

"We hope that these students and all of our students continue to look up to the positive role models in public life; we just encourage them to do it in a responsible way."

Can you imagine the magic Bellichick could make with Tebow.

It would be like MJ + Phil Jackson or Bill Walton + John Wooden.

Unstoppable.

No matter how much the refs tried to hand the game to Pittsburgh they couldn't stop Tebow!

Those of you with daughters better go lock them up. Roethlisberger's offseason just started.
