Pretty hot. It does appear that there is some correlation between flare power and endroll.

It had mana, and flared on the very next hit. On times when it doesn't flare (for me, with 280 total ranks in mana controls, it flares often) there is no messaging. But this one time I noticed this failure messaging

How much demon lore do you have in those first log posts?

I'm curious if lore enhances the damage from the demon, or if any other phantom additions to damage were tied in to lores.

I remember a GM (Oscuro, I think?) responding to you (crb) specifically stating that there is no correlation between lore/training and splash damage. Only level disparity (and resistances/vulnerabilities) affect the splash damage. So if it is different for Balefire, it would be the only ball bolt spell with said advantage. That seems unlikely.

To me? Fairly certain that's not the case. I've only been back in the game a week. Perhaps you mean Oscuro responded to the specific question?

Also, not the splash damage, the contribution of the demon-followup damage. Which is a mechanic unique to this specific spell.

So my question remains unanswered !

The type of damage done will depend on the demon's native valence:
Grik'tyr: randomly either disintegration or crushing damage
Shien'tyr: randomly either vacuum or unbalancing damage
Lorae'tyr: randomly either steam or disruption damage

Here are some examples from a like-level foe. Level 63 sorcerer with 64 demonology ranks. I've been using 708 to get them on the ground, one shot of Balefire, and then 702 in offensive stance. For the demon flares, I would say it flared better than 50% of the time.

I think this is still more mana intensive than just using DC, which often one-shots the stuff in the Skull Temple. Still, it's fun to play with.
