Garrote update · on 6/8/2004 8:13:48 AM 614
Several new garrote items have been added to the list. Valid items are garrote, wire, rope, belt, beltstrap, cord, lanyard, scarf, strap, and tether. Garrote items are divided into 'true' garrotes (wire, garrote) and 'substitute' garrotes a.k.a. strangles (all others).
Using a strangle rather than a true garrote will increase the attacker's round times slightly. Strangles have a higher 'breakage' rate, and a lower major success (death-strangle) rate. Exact stats for each strangle vary from type to type. Strangles will not do neck slash damage on minor successes, but may bruise the target.
Garrote attacker is now subject to the Cloak of Shadows chant retribution effect, when a victim wearing CoS is stunned.
Wall of Thorns will scratch a garrote attacker, if the victim is wearing WoT. Poisoning of the attacker may or may not result.
Stoneskin provides some minor garrote protection via increased breakage/escape chances.
