If you are wearing a cloak with it already, tunic or sucoat should work.

Tunic, surcoat, robes, vestments.
I had mine altered into some robes with a show.

Sade just denied me for "tunic" for a full armor concealer. She also said I was able to do robes, cloak, longcoat..etc

Acceptable nouns for armor concealers is a game of chance; it's dependent on the GM working on them, the alignment of the planets and whether there's a R in the month or something so it changes daily. I'll allow Misun to explain the debacle of the off-the-shelf "cotehardies" that couldn't be altered to "cotehardies".

Oh don't get me started...I'm still calming down from all of that.

The list of acceptable nouns is going to depend on the GM and how closely they look at the item. Full armor concealers technically should be items that can have some sort of hood and are supposed to say so in the base.

Some GMs will insist that the description have "hooded" or "cowled" in the description, if they are full armor concealers. As it is, I have two armor concealers without hooded or cowled and they are an overcoat and a longcoat respectively.

Mine's a shroud... Hooded as it's full and I had no choice.

I have a tabard for a full plate concealer, which of course no tabard actually would conceal but hey whatever

Sadie seems to follow the rules of the most uptight merchant ever. I tried to get a TWC belt altered into a sash, she said no way. So while I was pondering new ideas, a merchant showed up at FWI, and I was lucky enough to get spun. She had no problem turning my TWC belt into a TWC sash.
Furthermore, one of my armor concealing tunics (although only for body, arms, and legs) was made using an alterers scroll.

It really depends on who does it.
I was denied making a full armor concealer into a cape once, but cloak was fine. Then they gladly put hoods/cowls on capes at the FWI event making them full armor concealers.
The tunics at EG (at least the one I dug up) was not a full armor concealer. Only torso/arms.

Ugh..I've tried posting twice on this but it just gets me so riled up. Easy solution to this problem? Toggle show armor on/off. Then maybe we can wear all the other nifty things out there.

I had mine changed into an overcoat, to go with the jacket I currently wear as my main container.

I had mine mine recently altered, and they were huge sticklers. Wouldn't let me use cape, and said it had to have a hood, and be something that would cover the whole body. They even said it couldn't be a cloak, but a longcloak. But finally they settled on letting me describe it as covering the whole body in just the show, and making it as a cloak.
It pisses me off they are so strict about something that already makes no freaking sense as it is. The whole point is to allow us to have the look we want yet still get the mechanical benefits we need from our armor. So why not let us get the freaking look we want?!
Longcoat and a hood? Umm, that still aint covering my full plate, realistically, so why the hell be such a stickler about it? I hate GS GM's sometimes.
But yeah, some GM's are way too strict, and some are pretty lax. It all depends on your luck.
In the end, I had to settle for a cloak, and thank God they let me have the hooded/covering part in the show, which no one will ever see anyways.

Armor Concealers..what... 11-19-2011 04:22 PM lol brielus
I'm not sure why someone neg reps me for asking a question. Obviously there is an issue with these and I wanted to be clear about what hurdles I might come across when trying to get mine altered. I hope others learned something also. And for whoever left that neg rep, get a life.
p.s thanks for all the replies and I'm not sure what this negative rep is supposed to mean? Is it brielus that is leaving it or is someone saying that I'm brielus? Which I am certainly not.

Ah, welcome to the world of altering armor concealers. The whole "has to make sense" part is the one I laugh at because without armor concealers we have people running around wearing full plate armor with sundresses and slippers. THAT makes so much sense. Wearing armor concealers is restrictive enough because you usually lose a container spot depending on what you make them into AND you lose the freedom of wearing other clothing like skirts and neat lacing stuff (which I love and have a locker full of). There are simply too many restrictions and inconsistencies. It's so frustrating.

All I have to say is..
We pay a lot for this game, I could get three months of lotro for the same price as a premium account with less hassle. I don't understand why they have to make it so damn hard to get something like an armor concealer (which IS NOT REALISTIC ANYWAY) to get altered into something reasonable. There is no foreseeable logic to the whole matter.
Last I checked this game was a FANTASY GAME.. I mean I understand not making them into miniskirts and tube tops.
But if I want a damn dress/dalmatic/tunic I don't understand why I can't have it.
I am also for a toggle of armor shown on/off

Would definitely solve the full plate and slippers dilemma...or brig and sandals for me, as it were!

I totally read this as.. 'But if I want to get a damn dressy dalmatian tunic...'
I blame hanging out with Lysistrata.

A dressy dalmatian tunic would rule, and I can see how hanging out with Lysistrata might cause you to see awesome dead cute animal alterations.

Overalls...they wrote a hood into the last sentence of the description.
I went in wanting a worksuit/jumpsuit/miner suit/prospectors suit something along those lines. They wouldn't let body suit fly either. As is I'm happy with it over all.
I don't understand why they were so weird about adding "miner" to thing when I already have multiple items (that I genned with or bought off the shelf) that have "miner" in the title. There is obviously some sort of GS dress code for a miner. So why the fuck not. It really does just come down to the GM. And what day of the month it is...for her.

Overalls? Lucky you. And yet dress is turned down even though frock is off the shelf and pretty much is just another word for dress. I was told once that they are trying to steer away from the silliness in GS and be more realistic. Yeah...people popping out of beards is so realistic. We are playing in a fantasy world, how realistic are we supposed to be?
BTW...not all the gms with the issues are female. ;)

The recent EG thingies where people and such pop out of beards and do stuff. Cute..amusing..not realistic though.

So revamping this thread looking for some feedback.
How do you imagine the GMs would react to request to change a cloak and/or an armor concealer being named a 'szur' (http://www.amazon.com/FolkWear-Hungarian-Szur-Pattern/dp/B00162ZPYC)?

Is it a full armor concealer?
From what I can find, it will probably be quite difficult since there is little information about it out there. Given that a szur has sleeves, a cloak would not be able to be made into one if you get a GM who sticks to that. It is classified as a 'mantle' but with sleeves even though they might not be used and can be sewn up.
It is also very period/area/cultural specific so it might not pass. This was the best resource I found for it: http://mek.niif.hu/02700/02790/html/103.html
My best guess is that you will have a difficult time with getting it done but then I have been quite surprised sometimes.
