You must be holding or wearing something off of which to invoke.

Are there actually worn invokable items around?

Runestaff charms I think, work like that?

There were two different runestaff charms: one type had only one spell in it that you activated by raising or waving the staff and came in different, somewhat-related-to-the-spell shapes. The ones Gizmo is talking about, which came out a year later, were pieces of parchment that had sets of spells on them. You applied them to the staff and then invoked the spells off of it.

The only other wearable invokables I know of are the tattoos, which come in temporary and permanent varieties. One spell per tattoo, I think 20 invokes for the temporary ones, and one tattoo per arm. Temporaries were sold off the shelf, permanent ones were (I believe) auctioned and have all been applied, as far as I know.

20 invokes per for the temp is correct, yes. Also, if you have more than 1.. and different spells, it can be a wee bit glitchy..

True story. It gets really ugly, having to use first and second, and they're not consistent between logins or SORTs. Outside of that, though, they're all kinds of convenient. I usually have either two 117s, or one 117 and one 806 as a sort of emergency backup.
