Best Way?

What is the best way to find out if different critter found items are enhancives? Only way to find out from a bard? Sorry if this is stupid question.

Step 1: put it on and type info and skill. If stats or skills show up red, it's enhancive.
Step 2: take it to the pawnshop or gemshop and if it appraises for 35k+, it's probably enhancive.
Step 3: have a bard sing to it.
