Done in Ta'Illistim. Edaarin is a Human with no trading and low INF (3 bonus). The second appraiser is a Dwarf with 100 INF (15 bonus) and 80 ranks of trading. Third appraiser is an Elf with 70 ranks of trading, not sure what the INF bonus is.

Keeping = not immediately selling to gemshop like I did with junk gems, so that I could have them purified. Appraised them before hand at 580k give or take, paid the bard 150k for about 45 minutes worth of purifying, and came out ahead about 350k ahead.

My biggest heist was when Falgrin stole a mage rechargable gem from Zhagen's hat. I turned it into a pin and sold it for 5 million.

What's everyone's opinions on which gems to keep for purification? I'm looking for best purification effort to net gain ratio. Currently, I think I keep diamonds, emeralds, rubies, blue sapphires, despanals for purification....and, I can't think of any others.

The ones I used to sing to were basically any gem that had a base value around 2.5-3k and up. Now, because I hate doing it, I limit the purification to diamonds, rubies (except star rubies), and emeralds. Other stones with very high values are blazestars, feystones, despanals, certain glimaerstones, some opals, pearls, and certain sapphires. Those are worth singing to and have noticable appreciation after the fact. I think that's everything, with the exception of some Teras gems and Solhaven shells.

I've had a couple days worth of gems go for around 3 million unsung. I always gave my satchel to a empath friend of mine to sell.. slyvan and max trading etc.

Being a DE sucks when selling shit.. so I pay someone else to do it and still make out much much better.

Before I quit I had a bard in the works that was elf, max INF, max trade, and trained for gem singing. Made a ton more passing gems to him vs letting Anticor sell them.

I do it for a few reasons:

Gems are light therefore carrying a million in gems doesn't drop your ds to zero like silver would.

Some merchants only accept gems for work.

Gems are great for alterations (especially if required by the merchant, and are sell-able for a higher value if someone needs that gem and does not have it [though anymore, I just give the gem away]).

I don't keep all those gems on my main character. That'd be a nightmare. They stay on my "selling" character until I have my bard sing to them. I sell off all the other gems and keep the ones I posted. Also, they're far from light when you have 200+ gems:

You carefully examine the herbalist's satchel and determine that the weight is about 72 pounds.

I made a script a few years ago that looks in my main character's container and moves all gems from that container to the other. Since I have more than just the gems in the main character's container, the script saves me a lot of time, because EMPTY does not allow movement of just gems.

Because once you've got a container full of gems, you have a bard sing to them and sell the orb gems/rechargables to players and sell the purified gems to the gemcutter.
