I could go to see it at 7:00 tonight as a sneak preview (one of the little extra's you get for working at a movie theatre). Anyways, anyone heard anything good about it? If it's crap, I will find something else to do.
news flash... Harry Potter is lame.
My two cents.

I've heard that it's a lot less childish than the first two. A new director and such, and apparently some parts of it are pretty 'dark'.

Going to see it as soon as possible. Will buy it as soon as possible. Who cares what the reviews say?
Actually, I have heard one thing that makes me leery about it. It is shorter then the first two. Part of what made the first two so good was because they were so faithful to the books. Since the third book was longer then the first two, the third movie should also be longer, not shorter. It really makes me wonder what they left out.

Having read the first three books, I can tell you for certain that the movie will only be 'dark' if they (the film-makers) read a different book. However, I caught a glimpse of another movie thread created by you, and if it's a choice between the two, see this one twice. I'd send the money to Krazy Kanada, but I'm too afraid an unborn fetus would swipe it.

I get into both for free.
Apparently the new director is supposed to be pretty good. I'm gonna go. It's a free movie, air conditioned, and best of all, free food. so mwa ha ha!:)
As for the comment about the other movie.. Bite me. Michael Moore movies.

Just got back.
Yeah, it's about 2 hours and 20 minutes... shorter than the others. They didn't butcher the movie at all though... I didn't notice a difference between the Dumbledores from the other two (the first guy died, right?), and a bunch of dialogue was cut out... but still very true to the story. The editing wasn't as good as the other two, but it was still overall a good movie.
Gotta be a Harry Potter fan to like it though, i think.

Yeah, the first guy died, just after they finished filming the second movie. I have been impressed with how he looks and sounds in the previews.

I saw it last night and thought they did well. They cant get all the sub-plots in the films though which I think is a shame but they did well with what they did, although I thought the dementors looked too much like black Caspers in the way they floated around.
Glad I went to see it though
I'm seeing it tonight at 9:40 with a bunch of friends, I can't wait!

I took my daughter tonight and it was good. Looks like they cut a whole shitload though. I bet the director's cut DVD runs 45 minutes more.

Yeah, he was the guy who directed "Y tu mama tambien" which, if you saw it, was very different from a Harry Potter movie.
I just got back from it, it was very good. The best Harry Potter yet for sure.
I thought Dumbuldore looked close but he was much more whimsical in this one and not as wizened and wise as Richard Harris, who I felt was better.
As a side note, the dementers were always very similar to what I pictured Gemstone Wraiths looking like.
Edit: need to learn how to spell

The movie was excellent, but contrary to what Chadj says, it was butchered hard core.
Crookshanks was barely mentioned, the grand Hogsmeade adventure was a five minute romp, the whole thing with Sirius Black was more than a bit abridged and while this new Dumbledore is good... he simply isn't Dumbledore.
I did give it a 10/10 rating... it was as best as you could possibly expect given that it was a film and Richard Harris died... but it would've benefited greatly from an extended play time and more emphasis on the fun parts of the story.
Klaive's review is pretty accurate... Though, I'd give it an 8/10 based in comparison to the previous Harry Potter movies.
