Skinning skills

I want to be the best I can be at skinning but there's a couple of things I'm unclear about.
Firstly which is better to fully train in - Survival or First aid? Or both?
Would maxing both really be better than maxing one of them?

Also 604, with no Blessing lore, does it do anything but increase the chances of successfully skinning a creature?

I think survival and first aid both count equally to to skinning. Also, I don't think it is worth the TPs to double in both or one, so single in both. If I'm right, it counts equally to skinning, and you have 2 different skill sets that will be worth while.

604 with blessing lores only increases the value, which isn't bad, but it won't make bounties any easier. 604 with or without lores drastically increases your odds to skin.

604 without lore adds phantom skinning ranks, so it doesn't just help skinning success, it helps value too.

I've been maxing FA and Survival and its pretty taxing. So I should turn them down to 1x in each and there will no decrease in the skin quality?

Yeah, 2xing both is way overboard. Skinning suffers from some pretty bad diminishing returns after a point, so all those ranks really aren't helping THAT much. Training in ranger spell ranks also continues to add to your 604 bonus, so if you're pretty well trained in the 600s, you'll have even less need for double ranks.

At cap, I have only 101 survival and 8 FA ranks, but a ton of ranger spell ranks, and I get magnificent skins off of all capped creatures.

I like survival better than FA personally. I did 1x survival with 13 FA ranks (13 is an RT break on FA).

Just 1x survival and a have a couple ranks in FA?

I keep 604 up permanently btw.

I'd 1x both survival and FA if you're trying to be a good skinner. I left my skinning skills.low because skinning is barely worth it at cap--unless you're a douchebag skin farmer that likes to get things nerfed, like Inspire.

I'm susprised your spike thorn doesn't kill the target, find it's family and kill them, come back skin it and hand you the skin.
