Really? I knew they had opened the other guilds for alchemy stuff, but not the Warrior or Rogue.

Rogue guild should be there, I looked myself to no avail. In the bottom of that announcement, she states we have to search the new locations of East Harbor.

found it
The guard gives you a nod of recognition and waves you in.

The guard adds, "You're on a list here that would not normally be allowed in for some reason, perhaps unpaid guild dues. They don't tell me why. Pretty much everyone is allowed in right now, though."

my warrior was not allowed in

[A Dark Warehouse]
Cramped and crowded, the small room appears to be a warehouse with brick walls and a knotty oak floor. Stacks of boxes and containers are piled to the ceiling in many places and create a labyrinthine maze of packed goods. Incredibly faint light leaks out from behind one particular short stack of wooden crates, while light from the alley also filters in through the open doorway.
Obvious exits: none

and thats where I get stuck. been so long since I played my rogues I don't know what to do next

In all likelihood, it will be a puzzle (think of how you have to get into the Landing Guild, for example). I'll search for it later and see what happens when I play around with it.

It's in the new bar, just like the Landing you can't actually search for it. East Harbor to the first alley, to into the entrance, west, then go panel. A few things are broken, but I've already reported about most if not all of them. Make sure you peer before you step in a lot of places. I think it's a great overall design.

Sadly, this guild destroys any hopes of there being a central training location for ALL rogues.

To me, I find this guild to be a very BAD thing.

EDIT: But, be that as it may, if anyone wants to email a log of them walking through every single room in the guild, then I will map it. gs3_midgar@hotmail.com

Yeah, I think they had said sometime in the past(maybe unofficially) that they wouldn't open a rogue/warrior guild in FWI because it would give way too much advantage to premium. I guess they've reversed that position.

Mobius1

Well, it's not so much about the advantage it gives to premium, but the fact that it can actually make training even HARDER now, for non-premie rogues.

It's already hard enough as it is, to get your average, basic subscribed rogues into the guild, to train in the skills. I highly doubt that those people, who already dislike the guild currently, are going to pay $40 a month for it.

If it was just a benefit for premium members, then sure, it would be ok. The problem is that it can very well make it harder for basic subscribers to get partner reps, thus actually detracting from their gaming experience. That is where it upsets me.

Now those rogues that are already on the fence about whether they want to bother guild training or not, most certainly won't be willing to fork out an extra 25 bucks a month for it. They already dislike the guild, as it is.

I think the better solution for rogues, both premium and basic alike, is to give those rogues that are on the fence, more reason to come to the guild. I very well think that this will make it worse.

My only hope is that the FWI guild is hardly used, to be honest. That, or Simu actually being willing to still make a central location for ALL rogues to train in.

I think the skills themselves, which don't cost precious CMan points and are better for masters, should be good enough.

Except they aren't. Of course, that in itself is a problem...

Eh, I haven't played with my rogue a lot. I know with my Warrior guild saves me on having to get berserk, feint, disarm. Sweep is kinda underpowered for rogues, and I've never used subdue except for helping people hunt. Cheapshots have some nice ones, but they should be expanded with more skills.

I've always more or less thought of guilds as a social club. Personally, I don't think you should get guild speech unless you are in the guild.

I always wonder if people saying this are playing elves. Even with -5 DIS, I don't have a whole lot of trouble getting stunmans off. I like stunmans, personally. If they were better, I'd be happier but I've never considered them to be a reason to complain.

Almost every other guild skill sucks, though. Sweep is lame (might as well attack), subdue is pretty much the same (if you can reach its head, kill it) unless you have silent strike but even then, you might as well use silent strike. Rogue gambits are basically just for fun (except for thieves, I suppose). Cheapshots are outdone in almost every way by dirtkick (I suppose throatchop and swiftkick have their uses but again, you might be better off attacking). LM is actually pretty useful but it only really saves you time and coins (and not everyone picks, anyway).

In my opinion, offensive cmans should be brought up to par with dirtkick and you should be allowed to pick x guild skills from y choices where y>x. And maybe make the guild skills more passive and universally useful for rogues (same pretty much goes for any professional guild, I guess).

More on topic of the original post, though: I don't think this will affect much. Seldom do people hang out in rogue guilds. Premium subscribers could always meet on FWI to do reps if they wanted anyway, right?

Oh, neato. Warrior guild too plz.

they are planning a warrior's guild in FW already. A semi-recent premium contest was to design an item to go into the warrior's guild

I really hope they include the design I made, if only so I don't have to get this one guy a b-day present, as I designed it for him.

I am playing an elf...

But I have +10 DIS bonus in enhancives. It sucks because when you ask what would you take, stunmans or one of the other status breakers (beseech, whatever it is Bard's have, berserk)... And I would even go so far as to say cloak of shadows. I almost forgot about wizard's and 540. What would you choose?

It should be an even split, and I bet it is not even close.

You cannot move out of special rooms, you're fucked if your bound or any other weird state that bards/warriors/paladins can escape from, you're fucked if it's a magical stun, you cannot launch a counter attack (like CoS might) that will actually hurt something (oh and if you're archery you're just screwed), and you cannot even stance all the way to defensive.

The only good thing about it is that it doesn't require a partner to master.

I guess this is sort of true. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

But what also upsets me about the change, is that the idea of having a central training location, which could go a long way to solve a lot of the partner issues the guild is suffering from, may very well be impossible with this change. That is, it may be impossible to get Simu to budge on the issue, since they already set up a central, premie only, location.

Sure would be nice if they could link all their announcement folders to the root one like any other fucking forum is able to do, eh?

In other news, I find some of these NPC names interesting considering the PC naming policy...

Talon and the Skinny Man have been at it again in Mist Harbor. As if pursuing seemingly innocent half-krolvin merchants wasn’t enough, Talon and the Skinny Man have managed to pay off several merchants in the eastern harbor and rerouted several sewer systems. It is rumored that these diverted sections now support a wide variety of nefarious activity. Furthermore, Talon has sent out a threat stating that she’s got spies in Town Hall and the first person to mention the newest additions to the Eastern Harbor will find themselves floating face down in the nearest waterway.

Don't you know? The naming policy only applies to customers!! GM's can use whatever names they want, no matter where they come from...
