View Full Version : Work Boots
The average pair of Timberlands lasts about 6 months for me and I am officially swearing them off. I'm looking for a 6" waterproof work boot, and I spend the majority of my day walking around a concrete deck, so it needs to be comfortable. Boot needs to last at least 2 years so I can justify the absurd cost of work boots.
I'm leaning towards Red Wing Classic 4425s (http://www.redwingshoes.com/red-wing-shoe/4425-red-wing-shoes/4425-red-wing-mens-6-inch-boot-brown) but I've never owned a pair of Red Wings and am basing this decision on what I've read on the internet.
Anyone have any experience with Danner, Red Wing, White's, or Wolverines?

I'll second Belleville.
I also loved my Bates.
Belleville looks like a really awesome boot but they don't make 6" boots. Bates is a cheap made in China version of the Made in USA Wolverines (so sayeth Google).

Redwings or Vasque. I've been an arborist for 10 years, and comfortable boots are invaluable when you're in the air for 7-8 hours, redwings are my personal favorite, and cheaper than vasque boots. I also can beat up boots like no other, these last longer that your average boot. Much longer.

Danners are nice, Wolverines suck. I've heard some good things about Red Wings but have never owned a pair.
I doubt they make what you are looking for, but I love some of the boots Keens make.

Quite possible, I've never owned a pair of Wolverines but I've had a few pair of Bates and liked them.
Also I hate you because now I'm shopping for boots, saw a pair of 11" all leather paratroopers that will probably have to be purchased.
6" is the height of the boot.
Paradii: you like the Keen boots? I've never heard of them but they're made in the USA and there are a few dealers local to me, I can probably try a pair on.

I spent the past hour looking at boots, I have no sympathy for you, and neither will my wallet after tomorrow.

I recently bought a pair of Wolverine "Durashocks". Made for standing/walking on concrete. Also Red Wings are a great pair of boots. I wore those for a solid 4 years and my feet were always comfortable.

I own these and LOVE them. I used them when I was guarding consistently. I still keep them in my car just in case and I have plans to take them hiking soon. Most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, other than my desert boots.

Since Timberland is being bought out by VF corp, the same fine company that makes the low quality jeans sold in wal-mart, whatever good things anyone may have said about them are likely to change.

You're right, someone is butthurt, someone also doesn't have a sense of humor.
