Just wondering what the general concensus is for warriors about which weapon is more viable long run. I find the idea of using a lance intriguing, but a maul and claid are tons of fun, especially since with bond and wspec I could make a "super" claid.

No it isn't, just berserk.

There isn't one that's "better." They have both have strengths. They both don't suck.

I think it really depends on what you want. I hate lances cause fighting on foot with a lance is just retarded to me. claids and mauls just didn't fit my char. he's bound to a weapon bace most people would call crappy but I'm enjoying him. got himself a spear and he does well enough with it. take out legs and take stuf down much older then him. if he needs a DS boost he can grab a shield and use the spear 1 handed with out training in a second weapon.

Does changing the weapon's noun from "lance" to "pike" make it any better for you? Because that does it for me. Lances are stupid. Pikes rule.

hm... still prefer a spear myself... but if I ever have trouble killing with the spear I may rework my cmans to focus and bond with a pike.

I had a friend that did the same thing - got his perfect lance altered to a pike instead - much more enjoyable for him.

There are different types of lances. Since Gemstone doesn't have mounts I've always pictured lances to just be really large spears, like the ones you'd see a dragonknight from Final Fantasy use, not that gay jousting shit.

I always go with whatever word seems more appealing more so than the things they represent.

Sarissa...sarissssaaaaaaa.

edit: actually shit, screw that. Now that i look up some of the other alternate names for lances, sudis. Entirely impractical as a melee weapon but looks awesome nonetheless.

I don't like the noun lance but pike works well. Basically for warriors with less than 53 agi/dex possible I say go with THW. For races greater than that go with polearms. Especially if you are going to beserk a lot I think lance is better. If you want to be more surgical and aim more, maul is better for that but lance will do more overall damage and is more likely to rip off a limb on a random shot.

Agi/dex doesn't matter if you're berserking a lot.

Does berserk ignore normal RT?

Does berserk ignore normal RT?

Completely. This is not to say you won't act outside of it in camp settings.

You could be wearing full plate with 0 armor ranks and carrying 500000 pounds and your berserk RT would still be a flat 5 seconds every time.

I'd done it to stand when carrying massive amounts of coins.

Oh neat, I was unaware of that. I still would like to see a lance wielding halfling mstriking with max agi/dex and at least 23 agi/dex enhancives.

I made a table once in a thread called something like 'claidh vs. maul vs. lance' that showed crit kill thresholds for the three weapons. That may be helpful to you. Just as a note, the damage type percentage is probably wrong so the crit-kill percentage may be skewed.
