This happened a year ago, but Matt was a good friend of mine so I really, really tried to give him some time and resolve this several times. Apparently after he stole Inspire’s stuff he thought that stealing, in general, was a worthy cause.

Matt/Durgmist/Sheikh back in 2009 was selling a large set of coins. He was a trusted friend and we shared stuff constantly. He asked me if I wanted to sell my 30M along with his larger set of coins, and I said sure. I had known/played with Matt for years and done tons of transactions with him, so I was not at all concerned, I trusted him. I handed him over the coins and then he claimed he was being deployed and disappeared. No sign of the money for months, but I knew he was in the military so I wanted to give him some time and just resolve it when he gets back. I talked to him 5-10 times on AIM and in game, and he always had an excuse.

During that time I kept in communication with him, took a break from GS for a while, and then came back months later and I sent him this message on the PC:

You can see his response in the message – where he admits he owes me the money – and after a few weeks went by I sent him this message:

So earlier this year, still no money, I message him again and try to get the money from him; never once taking a harsh tone at this point as he was a really good friend. He comes up with another deployment excuse and I say fine, but to please get it to me when he gets back – he told me all these stories about his kid and wife and their new house, etc.
again and ask him what’s going on.

Here is the aim log where he basically says he has no money (log below in next post).

So I keep contacting him and then I find out from a friend that he’s trying to buy very expensive capped characters and other items in Prime (he had told me that he quit). I call him out, he denies and claims the recent east-coast hurricane is his only concern...

Then, today, I find out that he has been playing shattered for a long time and has changed his name on the PC. He has been buying and selling tons of items (a quick search for Sheikh shows how active he is) and is for sure engaged in a large number of transactions. He has gone unresponsive to me completely, and I am almost certain I am never getting the money back. I just want everyone here to be aware what a scumbag/liar this guy is. If he has stolen from anyone else (I know he did to Inspire a while back), please let me know as I am sending SIMU a formal letter about everything – not that they’ll take any action. I have his name, address and phone number.

But I can tell you that Durg contacted me during the 2Wizzy account bidding and said he wanted a few things from the sale and that as a thanks to him for not upping the bid on me he felt we should do business.He wanted to talk about coming back to prime and wanted to buy some of the characters. He wanted the premium points a nice bow, some of the armor items, etc. In the end I was holding for him a 10x PB returning hammer, a 4x Poison Ebow, 6x lirion ebow, 10.4kPPs, 11.6k PPs, and I held onto some of the characters off the accounts just waiting to hear back from him. I gave him a link to a spreadsheet that contained items and characters as I found them going through the accounts. Everytime I talked to him about it he just couldn't make a decision.

So in the end I told him after waiting months I couldn't afford to hold over 500m in total gear for him to come to a decision and he then told me he was going to buy Swami's bard, and his rogue. So I thought we were going somewhere with it only to see him posting up all the shattered shit he got in the maze. So I contacted him and said that is it I am done. I finally released and posted the items up for sale recently because I had to move on. But I can confirm that he was interested in several of my items and had I known he owed people money from stuff I would have never sold to him. I do not feel like arguing with him about this. You can see in his edited AIM log that I didn't believe him that I did not pay him. I don't have all of my old AIM logs, but from the one he posted I think it is the one where he just continued to pester me and eventually I just agreed. I then actually decided to do some digging when he put this up. Years ago we used to account share, and one of the chars was Kolts.

These are the shots of him asking for the money and me paying him. He is convinced that the $400 is me selling him Kolts, but I have a feeling the current owner of that char would know better if they would like to comment.

I was befriended on false pretenses to lend a "friend" a text-based item worth ~30m. It was armor I myself had borrowed from a fellow GS player I saw every day, in person, at the time.

We met later on, he was like, "man, that would have been worth some money." I said "sorry." Then, we just said "what's up (other person)?" when we encountered each other from then on.

So, maybe if there's a roof over your head and the bank isn't about to force you into donating a kidney, let bygones be bygones, because, this shouldn't be a shitstorm. That is ... if it is. I don't know how serious either party is and I probably shouldn't have even added these two pennies.

Well...in the interest of full disclosure, I have retained about 30 dollars, which was the difference in the 300 dollars escrowed minus the transfer fees.
