Do you have one? If so, i'm curious to see the components you're using. Don't forget about the monitor, headphones, keyboard/mouse, etc if they're out of the ordinary. What games are you playing now, and which do you plan to play in the near future? Do you foresee any upgrades in the near future? I'd like to get a sense of how mine stacks up with the rest of the PC.

No. Not a fan of those types of games.
Since I'm using 3 monitors, I have all my graphics set up for EyeFinity, which required a tad bit of tweaking but no overlocking.

Onlive definitely seemed intriguing. The whole idea is to be able to play those types of games without having to have a big gaming rig, isn't it?

I wish I could figure out how to overclock my CPU. I read a few guides, but the commands in my BIOS seem completely different from the things they were mentioning. I'm already overclocking the GPU. I haven't messed with the voltage, but the free d/l EVGA Precision makes OCing as easy as sliding a toggle to the right and rebooting. Can't get much easier than that.

My Server is running a 920 that I had overlocked. Fairly easy with the right tools.
In the end, if you can spare a few bucks to upgrade to sandy/ivy bridge, you'll notice far more improvement.
My last 2 builds were for my HTPCs, so didn't need much. I think I plopped 350$ and 550$ respectively on each of them.

I've heard great things about sandy/ivy bridge, but right now with just 1 monitor and no 3D I don't think I need to do that quite yet.
I guess my replacement for gaming is just setting up stupid shit like Brute TV. For that I use a pretty sweet server board that fits in an ATX case, with 2 quad core Xeon processors and 24GB of RAM. It would be a beast for gaming, but it only has one PCI Express 8x slot, so no SLI.
Fortunately it doesn't take much power to emulate NES and SNES.

That is the biggest thing about onlive yes, there are some other cool things though. I love the fact that I can pick a game and start playing it immediately. No need to install a game or anything, just click and play.

So in all seriousness, other than Gemstone I still am hung up on CoD.
I haven't played many of the new games like Crysis 2, Deus, or Space marine.
The primary purpose of the machine was to play these games, but mostly to power my BluRay encoding that gets dumped to unraid.
I am in the process of switching out all the 2TB drives in unraid to 3TB.

I had this problem on a friends OCZ drive.
Pulled it out of SATA3 port and put it in SATA2 and it went to like 7.4 or 7.5.
Didn't change any of the other settings.

The very short answer is that TRIM command tells the OS that you have a SSD attached and not mechanical HD and then which blocks of data can be reused and how to handle junk data.
You can run fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify in a command prompt. If the result is 0, TRIM is enabled.
There are also a host of other things you don't want your SSD doing, like defragging, writing a pagefile, etc... that can have an impact on performance, lifespan, or both.

No special gaming rig at the moment; just an HP DV7-3079wm running Windows 7 and Debian (soon to be Gentoo). It was an okay WoW machine, and it does fine with Guild Wars, Second Life, or whatever random crap I decide to throw at it.

I was looking at that Obsidian Full Tower, but I just don't think I have need of something that massive. I like to upgrade, but i've yet to run anything in SLI. I only have 1 optical drive, one standard HD and one SSD. I'm never sure what I need in a case, but I think that Corsair should be more than enough. I don't know if I will even bother with Water Cooling. As long as I can OC a decent amount without pushing for max speed i'll be happy.

Not really worried about upgrades at this point, I run most any game I'm interested in on reasonably high settings so it works out. My main goal was to get an acceptable machine into a shuttle case and cut back as much idle noise as possible. Right now the whole rig is tiny and generates minimal fan noise with just the processor and videocard running fans.

Yeah, it's definitely more of a desired thing than any real need. The video card has been nothing but trouble since I got the thing, though. Between constant driver crashes and recently the fan having had a blade pop off, it's nearing the end of its days. I have to limit the fan speed to not go over 37% so the noise/wobble is at an acceptable level. I thought about breaking off a blade on the opposite side of the missing one to help balance it out, but one next to the now-missing blade is cracked at the base and I don't want that one to end up coming off after I 'balance' the thing. I think the secondary computer I'm running the GS characters on probably has a good bit of weight behind the whole new computer idea. That piece of shit is a Dell Dimension 4600 rockin a big 1GB RAM and it is brutal.
