[The Rift]
A portrait rests against an immense boulder here. The boulder seems to have a vaguely familiar shape, but exactly what is too difficult to place. Leaning against the base of the boulder is a modwir-framed picture, depicting an incredibly strong man wrestling with a heavy burden. The rock he holds appears to grow heavier, and he looks tired and pained by the weight of it. At the base of the painting before you are two footprints imbedded deeply into the ground. You also see a raving lunatic.
Obvious exits: east, south, west
>
A raving lunatic swings a jet black scimitar at you!
AS: +381 vs DS: +402 with AvD: +18 + d100 roll: +43 = +40
A clean miss.

>Your injuries hinder your attempt to hide.

You attempt to blend with the surroundings and feel confident that no one has noticed your doing so.
>
You leap from hiding to attack!

A wave of dark ethereal ripples moves outward from you.
A raving lunatic is buffeted by the dark ethereal waves and is knocked to the ground.

>l luna

You see a fairly typical raving lunatic that is lying down.
It appears to be dead.
It has severe head trauma and bleeding from its ears.
It has a jet black scimitar hanging unsupported in midair.
>loot
You search the raving lunatic.
It had a jet black scimitar hanging unsupported in midair.
It didn't carry any silver.
It had a sanguine wyrm's-eye garnet on it!
You pick up a sanguine wyrm's-eye garnet.
It had nothing else of value.
The raving lunatic decays into a rotting heap of flesh and bones.
>stow lef
You put a sanguine wyrm's-eye garnet in your black longcoat.
>l scim
Other than the fact the black scimitar is floating in midair, it appears to be a normal scimitar.

It would not be wise to do that.

I'd turn that off, like ASAP. Your gonna get yourself killed in the rift picking up things automaticly.

No, I'm not. If you pick up doomstones/oblivion quartzes automatically, no negative repercussions.

He's wrong... they were getting stuck to my hand in the Rift... which was a problem, so I deactivated that feature.

... unless it's been changed over the past year...

Heh, I'm not wrong. I've been doing it since I started hunting here like in February. The only problem is the urglaes fangs getting stuck in my off hand when I do it automatically, but I have no problems putting away oblivion quartzes or doomstones without being cursed/held immobile and stunned for 10 minutes.

Must had been changed then. I know for a certainity that it was cursing me when I was doing that last year.

I can confirm that last night autopickup of an oblivion quartz would hit you. I was talking to a friend of mine that was complaining because someone must have bitched to the GMs about a bug, because he used to be able to pick things up and be fine, and then earlier this week he was getting hit.
