a gleaming golden ring inset with three tiny gemstones
Kenstrom says, "RUB - teleports you to the set location. TAP shows you list of locations. PEER shows you the room you'll teleport to. PULL moves back a setting on ring, PUSH moves forward a setting. TURN programs the room in a setting."
>
Kenstrom says, "It won't be stolen, and you can always set new locations."
>
Kenstrom says, "But with gold ring rules as always, no cross realm, etc."
What's this worth? Got a few trade offers, one coin offer... lookin for a rough idea of value. It's definitely going to get sold or traded, so if anyone wants to make an offer, I'll listen, but first I need to get an idea of it's value.

Auction it. The action should be brisk and you'll get the most value out of it.

Damn that's a great item, I want it and my accounts aren't even open at the moment.

Now that this has been bought out, I'm curious. What's the 12-setting belt version of this worth? I've no intention to sell it at this point, but I clearly had it undervalued in my head.

The 12 setting ring sold for $1200 I believe.

I was told 100m-ish last night, in the course of doing my research. That's hearsay, obviously, but the source is usually pretty reliable.

And it is sold. $1,200. This is the first time my wife has ever been happy that I play Gemstone. Let the good times roll.

Neimanz sold a 3-setting teleport/scrying one for 42m in May, now that I go dig it up:

$1200 seems crazy for the 12-setting. I'm pretty sure it's sold for less than that before, but nice price for Bacl on it. It's a different order of ring, though. With that one, you can script Sol-Ice in seconds. Also, it sold before the release of a handful of other unnavvable rings at the Maze.

Ondreian bought out the golvern 3 setting neck worn amulet for 50/55m.

In any case, JustDan, it looks like you got the going price or a bit above, especially if that one doesn't scry the area.

In the end equation, I could have gotten more (if my PMs are any indication), but it was 20m more than I was expecting to get, so I can't complain. My biggest win in GS to date.

Who all offered buyouts? I offered at 4:22 am. :(

I wish I could say (or post a screen cap, even), but I explicitly said in the ad that I would honor privacy on PM Buyout offers.
Yours was fourth, though. :)

I'm assuming these multi-setting devices are limited in range to the same as gold rings? (ie; no, realm-to-realm teleportation)

Indeed they are. But you can set them for the last room in a realm, in three different realms and accomplish doing something like going from the landing to icemule in three successive rubs. (just an example).
rub, go chasm, pull, rub, walk, pull, rub, hello TC. Or whatever.
This works for a couple long distances with stupid timesinks in the middle.
In the end equation
There's a certain type of person who likes to lie about how much more they "would have" paid because you accepted a buyout. Sometimes it's true but quite frequently they are just angry they didn't get it.

First, thanks to everyone who responded. That gives me a good idea of approximate worth for the future.

I assume some of these (particularly the newer ones like mine) may work differently than other (older) ones, but for the belt I own...
The range I can teleport is the same as a gold ring with the only variations I've noted being below:
It doesn't seem to work in (at least some of) the "in-between" (for lack of a better word) realms. It works fine in the Landing and in Zul, but along the trail, no luck, so I have to walk from the south dock to the carts. (I haven't tried the Landing-Mule trail, but can do that next time I'm there.)
I can set the belt to teleport me directly to a table inside an inn. IIRC, gold rings wouldn't let me do that.
I don't believe it was able to teleport from the Bowels back to town, though that worked with a gold ring. I only tried it once and could've had it set wrong or something. This is another thing I'll check next time I'm around the Landing.
When scrying the destination area, it doesn't always work when outside that realm. If I'm in the central caravansary, I can't scry my WL TSC setting, for example. I can, however, scry the same location if I'm inside the gates of Ta'Illistim. I haven't found anywhere within the same realm where scrying did not work.
If I think of any other differences, I'll post them.

I think maybe I wasn't clear enough. The "in between realm" is a realm of its own. You have to ring to the edge of it. Manually walk into the next realm, ring to the edge of THAT realm, walk to the next, and then ring to town.
But this can be done with a script.
If you did understand me, but I'm just wrong, then I'm sorry.

I did understand, but mine doesn't work that way. (That's why I called out the "newer" versus "older". This wouldn't be the first item where a newly released version wasn't quite as cool as the original.)
I used "in between" to distinguish those realms that have a population center and those that do not. (I realize from a mechanics perspective they are just different realms, but the belt works in some and not other so I needed some word to distinguish them... maybe I should've said populated now that I think about.)
The belt has worked in all of the populated realms I've tried (including Pinefar if you count that as populated :), but doesn't let me set a location within the unpopulated realms (or along the Zul trail in any case). I can't use it to jump from ferry dock to the rope bridge. I believe a gold ring (and from what you describe, the older multi-setting teleporters) would allow that. Maybe I'm wrong about the rings, though, and that's causing the confusion? I certainly didn't try teleporting along the paths much with rings as it was just not worth the management time to me.

Very interesting. Thank you for taking the time to explain.
