Fantasia wins...thrilling...not really

Did anyone even watch American Idol this year? I didnt, my mom was addicted but I found the contestants pretty crappy this year.

Damn you and your quick posts. No, I only watched the final show, and as usual, I am disappointed with the choice. We don't need another blah singer, we need something new and unique. This is something that the American population, and their crappy musical inclination, will never allow to happen. People like Mariah Carey (who has an amazing voice and unmatched range), Whitney Houston have already filled the great voice niche.

We need more Bono's, Vedder's, and Stapp's- people who can add something new to music. And actually write their own music.

I personally really liked Diana, and she sang great tonight. She was a big bundle of nerves last night.

Fantasia was good tonight too, but I don't really like her voice as much as I liked LaToya's or Jennifer Hudson's. She was crying so much she couldn't hardly sing. Congrats to her, anyway.

Hopefully Diana will still get a record contract.

I thought Fantasia was better than everyone else, except for maybe La Toya. Is she amazing? Maybe. On a good day. She has this great raspy voice that reminds me of jazz bars. But unique?

Nah, the unique ones are found on their own, and don't need American Idol to "discover" them.

On another note. SIXTY FIVE MILLION VOTES??? That's 15 million more votes than was cast in the last Presidential election.

Now, I know you can cast more than 1 vote (and it's toll free), but the polls were open for 4 hours. Multiply that by 3 for the normal amount of time a real election is open for, and you have ONE HUNDRED NINETY FIVE million votes.

This country is in some serious trouble. ;)

However, it would be cool to see teenaged Bono, Stapp, and Vedder compete.

It's cos she's hawaiian, she sucked towards the end though. The contestants did suck this year. No one should've won, they should've just picked a whole new set of contestants.

I know. I'm not expecting to find such a person on Idol. The show is garbage, and the audience votes are garbage. The final result is...inevitably...garbage. I'm just saying that they need to let the unique voices progress into the final rounds, and get rid of the "white girls with wanna be Britney voice" and "black girls with wanna be Whitney voice". It's pretty played out.

If you watched World Idol, I'd say that guy has the voice to be the next Bono or Vedder. I respect Scott Stapp for two reasons, and two reasons alone: He has a unique voice that works for his type of music, and he writes his own lyrics.

As a wannabe musician myself, I find that to enjoy the music I listen to, it's lyrics have to make sense (bonus points if they make you ponder something), and they have to be written by the group/person performing them. Just as I hate music that is nothing but bar chord after bar chord (punk), I hate lyrics that are trite. American Idol contestants will never produce anything that isn't professionally studio engineered from the first lyric to the final beat. Voice synthesizers anyone?

I'm glad Fantasia won. Diana was like some horrible beauty pageant contestant, and all the other people basically sucked. With the exception of Latoya. And Fantasia was better than her.

Fantasia is a Macey Gray wannabe. I should have won this year but I didn't try out. My fav kid was the red headed kid that sang some Frank. Any body that sings songs by the Chairman of the Board is alright by me.

Next year if they roll thru Indy I'll be signing up because it looks like fun, and yes I can sing.

Jon Stevens was awesome, fuck all you h8rs! He's from Buffalo, which has a lot to do with his awesomeness, but he was the ONE unique act in the whole show.

You know why he sucked on many of the shows? Because he was forced to do trite bullshit like "Pop Night" and GLORIA ESTEFAN. The guy's an old school crooner, he sings Frank Sinatra, for heaven's sake, he's not some fucking booty shaking stupid asshole. If they stopped having the stupid fucking themes every week, and let them sing their own songs, what they like to sing.....John Stevens would of not only been the best, but I think he woulda won the competition.

That being said - I don't think "Idol" is the kind of show who wants to create a non-pop kinda star. And Jon Stevens would of been very non-pop.
