Does this annoy you?

I've had many discussions on this the past few days and am honestly curious to see if I'm the only one who gets annoyed by this.

You have those people who come to the boards and start all the big drama fights, everyone ends up hating them due to their constant and obvious lies... the person then says "I AM LEAVING, YOU'LL REGRET THIS."

Two days later a new poster arrives that has the exact same posting style, exact same spelling errors, and within a week is revealed to be the drama freak that left very loudly.

Why can't people just grow some fucking balls and stand up and say "Yes I am the annoying bitch but I have decided to change and want to come back." Or "I am such a weak pussy that even though I said I was leaving I can't because I have no other life"

Anyone else get annoyed by these individuals.

Teeoncy did it once, Klaive had several secret names on SR, and I could give another example....

I'd say 50% of people here hate me. I did not change my nick beside when I thought I was moving out of the city (long story).

If they can come back and actually change, that's great. If I don't know it's them I don't care. What's annoying is when it's so obviously them and there is nothing different at all except for them claiming not to be who they are. That is annoying.

It's annoying in that it's more posts that I need to scroll past.

On the other hand, look at the bright side and consider how they enrich the lives of others. That these pathetic little people need to sneak back in under an assumed guise in order to attain some minor amount of validation is guaranteed to make everyone else feel that much better about themselves.

Just give them a virtual pat on the head and move on, knowing that unlike them, you can turn off the computer and leave the message board behind.

The cat is a complete psycho who goes from this purring "oh pet me" little lovey thing into this nutty guy who runs up behind you and grabs your leg and bites you. He's really sweet.

Diet is going pretty good, of course everything will be a lot better and less stressed once school is out. Maybe my eyes won't be blood shot then.

Oh, and to respond to Leloo's post...I honestly don't care how many handles a person has as well. As long as TOS isn't being violated, I have no problem with whatever our members decide to do.

Although I did open my mouth once when a certain someone was accusing their other handle of "harrassing them" here on the boards..but there were a bunch o off circumstances surrounding that.

I don't think anyone does. Unless you're talking about friendship and relationships. Really, that's the whole point of being online.

The internet is the greatest communication tool the world has ever seen. It allows you to meet people who you never would otherwise and forge lasting bonds with them.

No, you'll probably never go to the movies with them or hang out at your favorite haunt together... but they are real people with real emotions and real minds and there's absolutely nothing wrong with befriending them... even considering them your best friends.

However, board drama, grudges held online, negativity and BS... who takes that into their real life?

If anything, it's just fun. It's fun to have people to argue with any time you want to argue. It's fun to have opposition at all times. And online, when you aren't in the mood to argue, you can just go play a game or get off the computer or something.

Truth is, if I met most people from the PC IRL, I'd probably be quite friendly with them and they'd be surprised how different I am from their perceptions of me.

But online, everything is under your control. Your image... how you project yourself... you have no family, no political ties, no body, no social class, no culture... when you first log on to the internet, you are a blank slate. And all that is known about you is what you want to be known.

Despite what many may think, I chose not to lie about myself. Things that I say I believe... I really do. But online, I do often stress the importance of things that are relatively trivial to me. I give long, elaborate speeches like this one on subjects that don't interest me... because I can.

That's the option everyone has... to exaggirate certain parts of their character and supress other parts. Because when you're online, your image is your own production.

When people leave in a huff and return under a different name... they are trying to abandon the failed experiment that was their previous name... or perhaps compliment it somehow and bring it back into a desirable light.

I've never disappeared because I'm satisfied with everyone's opinion of me. :)
