In Gemstone 4 Wall of Force and Wizard shields are getting drastically neutered. I feel it is for the worse and that they will only be useful for deuls. What do all of you think? Do you think they will be useful besides deuling, or useful for only deuling, or neither?

You'd have spelled it buel if you had dyslexia.

Get it right, my brother does have Dyslexia and he spells it Leub. heh. And I was being sarcastic, sorry if the tone wasn't apparent. :D

So long as creatures are sufficiently downtweaked to compensate, I really don't give a shit if I ever learn wall of force. It simplifies my training a whole lot.

It allows folks to ignore a fair portion of a rather underimpressive list. I wouldn't worry about it. I would worry about "parrying" on 33% of attacks though. I think that's gonna be bloody stupid. Defense is not going to be the issue that everyone thinks. Offense is.

As a pure caster, it'll be a huge adjustment... the new combat system and all that.
I don't read up on GS4. I only hear bits and pieces about it from a friend who pre-emptively quit, and is trying to convince me to follow suit.
That's not likely, as my major investment in Gemstone is in roleplaying, not in combat. (Granted... I train a ... lot.) When it comes down to it, I think the adjustment period is going to suck because everyone's going to bitch and moan, but I think that the environment that they SEEM to be trying to create is more conducive to the sort of activity I would approve of.
