I recently dusted off my 2h giantman warrior and was thinking about converting from CoL to Sunfist. He's rank 18 in CoL, and from an RP perspective I'd rather have him in Sunfist, but I've never had a Sunfist character and have no idea how well it would mesh. Between guildskills, cman and sigils it seems I'd run out of stamina pretty quick. Any help would be appreciated.

CoL takes a weekend to master. GoS takes significantly longer, factor that into your decision. CoL has slightly higher AS, but I think that is balanced by all the padding and weighting you can get from GoS. If you already have the mana setup for CoL and have decent PF training you should have no trouble keeping GoS Sigils up. That, in addition to having a free hunting ground for lulls in between good spots makes it a great choice in my opinion.

what type of weapons do you use?

sunfist works out pretty well for warriors, you can berserk the shit out of warcamps with pole/thw, especially if you get spell tanked.

I switched from CoL to GoS after cap.

for my character (warrior) and play style, here's what i can think of in 30 seconds..

the good:
warcamps and extra tasks for exp
sigil of escape

the bad:
less AS, shitty duration on sigils, especially with the fact that they wear off mid berserk
NO STAUNCHING

Sunfist is a lot of fun too. CoL doesn't really give you much to do, and it's too easy.

yeah, I'll tell you what, I think I have a pretty good opinion on this one (at least in regard to the question: is it better to hunt warcamps with CoL or GoS?).

When Sunfist came out, I immediately knew that the warcamps were my new hunting grounds of choice as a THW berserker. But I didn't really want to switch. So I stayed in CoL and used a slavebot to open camps for me (120 camps destroyed before my character joined GoS).

One thing about berserking in warcamps is that spells get dispelled a good bit, whether by actual dispel spells or by cloak of shadows retribution, etc. Also, you get those random entrances into camp where you get hurt real bad by a major e-wave or implosion and you need to run back to town for healing or spells.

In CoL (and this applies to other hunting grounds besides warcamps too), if you throw up all the signs (especially the three useful ones that take spirit points, AS, DS, TD), and then you have to detour to town, you may not have enough time on those signs to go back to the hunting area and actually complete a hunt before you lose too much spirit to keep hunting. So you may end up waiting for them to drop (can be 5-10 minutes just sitting here), and then waiting for spirit to come back, so that you can go back up there and start again. I've lost as many as 15 minutes or more per hour with bullshit like this.

So what am I losing by having switched to GoS? I lose 5 AS and 5 DS, and gain like 5 TD (over CoL). I gain HCP and HCW from sigils. When I'm done hunting it takes like two pulses to get my mana and stamina back enough where I can start heading back out to hunt again if I want. No worrying about spirit or signs. I kinda like it.

Overall I just feel so much more effective in warcamps with GoS, and I'm sure I'd feel the same way hunting in other grounds. In fact, if I wasn't berserking, I could keep up all the sigils much longer because I wouldn't be blowing 100 stamina per minute on berserk waves.

I'm using the lich script ;isigil to keepalive major bane, major protection, offense, defense, and focus. If I'm not berserking I can keep up bane, protection, and focus for about three minutes along with surge of strength 5 and offense and defense (which are still lasting from their initial 10 minute period). When I start to run out of mana, I kill ;isigil and just let surge refresh for the rest of my hunt. I'm hardly ever not fried by then anyway.

But how realistic is this for someone to do when they are not maxed out in physical fitness? Less realistic. I've got like 202 stamina with Surge up and it refreshes in godly large chunks (max PF). So sigils don't worry me. If I was level 50 or something though...hell I would hate Sunfist, as I'd only be walking around with +20 AS and DS all the time.

I think CoL and its superior AS and DS numbers and long durations are a great society for those transition levels (like 50 to 80). But now that I'm capped and I enjoy berserking warcamps, I'm really digging Sunfist. I don't think I'll convert back to CoL any time soon. If the day comes when the Landing gets an actual post-cap hunting ground, I might, but for now I'm content to use warcamps as primary hunts and GoS is a great society.

And yes...very much more roleplay options too. You can't even talk about CoL. You can be a freaking GoS zealot if you want. I dig.

I have not crunched the numbers of the skills between the two societies, but I would have to say I enjoy GoS better. What credentials do I have? I have gone through CoL with two different characters. The thing I enjoy about GoS is that there is no need to farm skins or look for items like silver wands and amulets. I just go out and grind out points. The cons I have learned from Gos at being ranks 6 is that obtaining rank 5 sucks hard. Expect to invest A LOT more time in GoS than in CoL. It can also be tough finding warcamps when you need them to complete tasks. Maybe this gets easier at higher levels, but being under 20 I can only go into the orc camps. They can be few and far between.

It certainly does get easier. I couldn't care less what kind of camp it is. I'm just as effective in any of the types. Most people like giants the least, but I like trolls the least. Giants at least stay hurt when you hurt them. If you get a troll critter that you can barely hit, good luck ever killing it (without fire).

I was wondering the same thing as the OP. GOS sounds like it might be fun, but I run out of stamina all the time and rarely run low on spirit or mana. It is very hard to get stamina up above 118. My Spirit has always been decent and mana is pretty easy to get up (just harness power every once in a while, since it is MP, it does not use up a lot of your TPs).

Stamina takes a long time to recover as well. Mana and spirit seem to recover faster.

The big downside that I see to COL is that if you use Shields, Swords and dissipation, then when they run out, your AS drops massively becuase your spirit is so low. However with only Shields and swords, if you stagger them, you will rarely get that low on spirit, and if your AS drops, it comes back up almost right away.

Lots of the COL signs are useless as far as I can tell. I never use Hypnosis, madness, wracking, recognition, thought, or of course hopelessness (I do not understand what that is supposed to be for? Emo players who like to roleplay suicide?).

I am not sure how many signs there are, but I only use nine of them. The rest are worthless for a warrior as far as I have seen.

Are the GOS sygils all useful? Is there some way to deal with the stamina loss with GOS?

I put my CoL 2h warrior into GoS and never looked back. IT is a GREAT society. Honestly, I'd say just try it out, if you don't like it, you can society reset and go back into CoL and master pretty quickly.
