That is a very tragic event, and percentage wise, a huge hit for the SEALs when it comes to manpower.
Saw this late last night, awful.

Agreed. Sucks, but, it does happen in war.
I would cringe at the (accurate) numbers of "us" vs "them" deaths in this war..

Man, just saw that these guys were in route to rescue a group of soldiers pinned down by insurgents.

After another high value target I would guess. Most of the guys were Devgru, and they don't nickel and dime shit.

Not O.K.
Interesting that they're from SEAL Team 6, but I heard a report said none of them were involved on the Osama raid... Seems like a weird piece of information to release, except as a 'fuck you' to the insurgents. Or it's just PR bullshit and no one will ever know.

This will have a huge effect on our ability to wage war. Equipment can be replaced, but it's hard to find people with the qualities of elite combat troops like US Navy SEALs. Not to mention the human cost of the lives lost.
My condolences to their team members, friends and families.

I have a little more respect for our armed forces than that. While it is a tragedy, it will not effect our ability to wage war at all.

The effects will be temporary at best. With more and more SOF units being pulled from Iraq there are more available for Afghanistan/Pakistan. You're right about their value though.
