Hey all. First time back in over 10 years. At least that really. I would love some input on my level 24 Wizard. I have no idea what im doing anymore. Warmage? Immo Mage? Wth are those? I used to use a 1h and a shield, but now I have an Orase Runestaff that someone suggest I purchase, tho im unclear on the benefit. It does seem cool tho.
For my Playstyle, I mostly solo and I generally play cautiously and don't take risks. Thats most likely do to my lack of confidence in my ability.
ANY input and direction would be great!!

You're training is on the right track, you could do without those tertiary skills though, (first aid, survival). I'd focus one one type of elemental lore until much later as well, although the ranks you have now won't hurt you, certainly. Your spell lists could use a bit of tweaking, push for minor elemental at first, to get 425 and 430 as soon as possible, 425 will help your bolt AS a lot. Bolting rocks until you get to a much higher level.
Runestaff is fine, a lot of casters go brawl/shield (shield and open hand) at later levels, it really helps your DS in offensive stance. It's expensive in TP's, so i'd save it for when you get nearer to 100.

Thanks much for the feedback... thats encouraging!
Whats the thing where I can choose a speciality... Air, Fire, water... etc...?
I think i read it gives cosmetic effects as well as some bonus'? Is there a track thats better than another? I read some stuff that Air does well?

You can attune to an element, not much mechanical bonus, but it will turn your eblade flares into that element, make your 'weapon fire' flare that element, and a few other less useful things. Air is nice, it makes your disk bigger, you can turn 'Hand of tonis" into an effective bolt spells, but it's most important function is to a warmage (Weapon user). If your planning on swinging, (most warmages use two handers), then load up on air lore and major elemental ranks until you swing in one second. Most important of all though, have fun!

Core Warmage training:
4 ranks of armor use(full leather)
1x Two handed weapons
1x Combat maneuvers
1x harness power
2-3x spells(if you could manage)
24 ranks of air lore max for lowered RT when swinging with haste(you'll want that by 24)
other TPs could use on other things but if you're not the skinnin/foraging type I suggest you dont train in survival and first aid.

Edit: 27 ranks of major elemental you'll want to get a bit later, possibly in your 30s? 40s? I didn't wait had it at 30 for the one second RT.

phantasm... is that for a Warmage? Is that the recommend build?
if so, what armor do i wear? Sorry, im a n00b again. ;)
Dayko, is that training per level? What spells should I prioritize?

I think that's a pure build, pretty good one too. Someone should really tell you how bad your stats are, in the long term sense.
Oh and with that some decent lore, sandstorm is a dandy spell, cast, step to that next room, peer to watch the sandstorm beat the crap out of the critter, step back, search corpse.

well you want to stop training in air ranks after 24 ranks...haste(506) is what you need for speed swings 2 RT but with 27 ranks of major elemental along with 24 ranks of air lore is 1 second..keep minor elemental at level each train, you'll want 4 ranks of feint in combat maneuvers until you can get 1 rank of disarm and then continue training for 4 ranks of disarming. You'll need full leathers at 4 ranks of armor use as I said. elemental wave(410) will help knock down critters older then you and tremor(909) and will of course help out in swarms.

My biggest/smartest purchase ever, 8x HCP robes, the best thing currently is when a war griffen drops me in otf, I never die.

Most wizard training threads have the exact same questions and very uniform answers to them. Best to just take a look there (EDIT: at the previous threads, that is) and ask if something doesn't make sense to you.
There's plenty of basic information on the wizard krakiipedia article. It even has a link to a warmage-specific article.

Stats... long term... it means exactly one thing: stat growth. You set your fastest growing stats the highest. Not much room for growth.

Only via the fixstat potion, a mere 30-35 million silvers.

What spells should I be using for hunting? Outside of Sandstorm... ;)
DaCapn

Use bolt 505 as a setup spell. Combinations of 904/906/908 as main bolt spells usually. 510 is also good in certain cases. It depends what kind of armor you're going against, how mana efficient you need to be, etc.
For mass spells, 410 and 909 are good disablers and 518 is for "when you absolutely positively have to kill every last motherfucker in the room."
You are of course allowed to experiment with the spells and see how they all do and see what you like. On the other hand, if that's what led to you believe that sandstorm is useful...

Sandstorm is effective vs Zombies... but one cast and sit and watch isn't what Im looking for. Its boring. I do want and need to be mana efficient. I've been running out of mana before my mind is full.
I've been using 908 on Zombies, but again, I run out of mana fast. I have some wands, but I can't keep the quanity up between hunts.

Unless you're facing multiple zombies, try 906. It'll save some mana and should work. 908 is good for multiple opponents due to the splash damage.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the feedback. Ill roll 906 a bit and see how that does, thanks. I love that there are so many different options. Not having a 'cookie cutter' template is great. Its just that 'relearning' is tough.

You also don't have to hunt zombies. Arch wights explode in a hilarious fashion to 906. You can find them either in Castle Anwyn, or in their own area in Icemule. Boil earth is a risk. Stay light, get your cast off first, and if you have a Ranger friend, get 602/618. You'll be underhunting, but you should be spending 6-12 mana per kill - it may work out.

Thanks Audio, I may try that. I don't any any rangers friends... or friends at all for that matter. ;)
How much of a drawback is underhunting? Will i still fry my mind easy enough?

If the gen rate is plentiful and you're killing quickly/cheaply, you can fry on underhunting easily enough.
There's lots of options in your level range. Check the critter listing on Krakipedia (search by level) and play around with some things.
