Moving to Hawaii...

I just found out that I am going to be stationed in HI, this is a little last minute and am trying to figure out if any other military people here have the experience. I am trying to figure out what to do with my dogs. I have a 5yr old and a puppy that is about 5 months old. I understand that they might hve to be in isolation or something. Any good info or links would be appreciated, I would feel bad if my dogs get the short end of the stick on this, and are in a crappy lockup or something for longer than possible.

I think your five month old puppy could be in trouble and in for a four month stay in quarantine. Dogs that have a microchip and have been vaccinated against rabies at least twice in their lifetime can spend less than the usual time in lockdown. I hope you can get around the restriction for the puppy in some way, because that's a crucial period for a puppy's development and bonding with the owner. Good luck!

For the dogs I would call the airport. Honolulu Air ? Most airports are charging 200-400 for crated dogs one way. You can organize with a kennel or animal rescue (for a donation!) to pick them up.

Well the Government is paying for my move, and I am USMC so I won't be in the unit you are talking about, that sounds like an Army unit.

But yea, I am pretty stoked, just have a lot to plan around since I own my house where I am at now so I have to get some renters, and the wife is preggers so we have to plan around that as well. But once I get there it should be pretty fun.

Rent sucks, grocery prices are sky high, gas costs A LOT.

Bringing animals into Hawaii is a real hassle, and in my opinion not worth it unless this animal shits gold.
