Thoughts on Shattered?

What's your guy's opinion on shattered? I haven't played it before because I assumed there would be a lot of room for annoying players and stupidity. What do you guys think? I play gemstone for the hunting, not the role-playing.

you can be a power hunting machine in shattered, theres no stupidity here except for michaelous.. and hes only at the keyboard maybe an hour a week. not much rp goes on here, but when it happens and you see it.. better believe its epic!

Please note that Parkbandit does not even play Prime, let alone Shattered.

If you are looking for an environment that is "for the hunting, not the role-playing." then Shattered is the place for you. Yes, all of us for the most part run scripts that allow us to be AFK, but even though the scripts are running there is still a lot of interaction, despite what the GS-Barbie crowd claims. Make sure you have Lich installed and tune to the Shattered channel. People will go out of their way to give you a leg up.

I played Prime from 1995 through 2004. I also tried to play Shattered for a 2 week period... but found it boring since there was no one to interact with... like a 1 player game.

Text games are challenging to people like you.. I never had a problem playing them.

Shattered had potential but they fucked it up by not building it up as a new and exciting playground.

There should have been clans, pkills, pkill rewards.

But instead, you get dildo daggers.

It would have been more fun as a fast-paced, edge of your seat PK environment.

You can only script so much before the game is over because there simply is nothing else to do, or see, or learn, or experience.

Oddly enough, all that seems to have left with the flood of people returning to Prime.

I get a kick out of people making the arguments for incentivizing PvP in other games, and not all that surprised to see it brought up here. In reality, the majority of people just want to play the game, to grind the PvE content and thus progress. PvP in shattered, is typically an interruption to their grinding, and thus a pain in the ass.

If there was a system for organizing PVP and/or incentive for fighting like-level and not simply ganking, it might work. We all know GS isn't designed for PVP, and we have had even more evidence for that since Shattered opened.

That being said, you can come kill me a couple times (AFK or not) and say "Tag, you're it!" and I'll be happy to make a game out of it. Or try to set up some duels like Michaelous did for a while, warcamp wars, etc. Those were all entertaining and the people who wanted to participate did, while those who were AFK or just wanted to script were able to do so as well.

If you like leveling characters more than anything, Shattered is probably the place for you. GM's will make better gear, and obviously you can level much faster than prime. Most interaction happens on LNet and not in-game, but some talk still happens in the major town centers or when GM's show up.

There is plenty of interaction that goes on here. There was some dude like a week or two ago that was playing Shattered without lich. It was probably Parkbandit, heh. You need lich.

Lots of potential here, especially with scripts. I like the challenge of trying to make the scripts work especially with hunting. I think you'd like that from what you said in your post.

I <3 shattered. All the hunting and leveling without the GM involvement policing your actions. It's nice.

Plus, when I die I can cuss and not get lectured.

I like shattered for the fact that I can still level my guys without being at the keyboard.

And despite what some have said, there is plenty to do and learn. It will take nearly 3 years or so for someone to hit true cap where earning more xp simply does nothing for you. I'm hoping to stick around that long and do it just to say I have. My empath is at 16.6 mil xp and still has a long long way to go till true cap.

I'm sure others will beat me there, but I'm still looking forward to it.
