CompUSA has, quite possibly, the worst customer service department I've ever encountered. They fucked up- the guy over the phone admitted it, stated it "must have been a bug", and that there is nothing he can do about it. They shipped me the wrong fucking item, and "I" have to pay to ship it back to them. Are you shitting me?

I should've known better, I usually never buy electronics from retail stores but the rebate was too good to pass up. To top it off, when I asked to speak to his manager because I didn't like his pissy tone, he stated that he couldn't do that.

Anyone else have shitty encounters with their e-commerce branch? :flamed:

I've been to compUSA once and that was to buy a monitor. The ass hat of a salesman started talking to me like I didn't know my ass from a hole in the ground. I told him that 1, just because I look young doesn't mean I don't know anything, 2, just because I look young doesn't mean I'm not going to drop a nice chunk of change on a good monitor (fucker was telling me this model over here is probably in your price range) I then told him to get me the manager. When the manager came over I explained that I wanted my purchase on a store account so that the asshole in question didn't get any commision from it.

Had it not been for the sale I would have walked out without the goods.

My experiences at CompUSA have been pretty good.

I went to buy a printer that I had researched the price for, and found that a local Microcenter had the best price. I went there, and the salesman ignored me, even when I was asking for help. They just looked at me, and then went back to talking with each other. When I finally got someone to help me (who worked in their printer section) he couldn't answer my question about the differences between two printers.

I got pissed off and left. Went to CompUSA, where the sales rep was very nice and knowledgable. He told me the differences between the two printers, and told me his reasons of why he bought one and not the other. The price of the printer was $20 higher then it was at Microcenter, but CompUSA earned my business that day, and I have returned multiple times to similar experiences.

Also, even though the prices at Best Buy are usually lower then CompUSA, I can never find anyone to help me in Best Buy. If I do end up finding someone, it's always "not their department" and they "can't find someone who works in this department".

There is no way in hell I would pay for their mistake. Elevate your complaint to their Customer Assistance department... or at the very least speak with a Manager.

Sorry.. their fault.. their problem.. their expense.

Tried, and tried. The answer I got was that they would call FedEx and try to get the shipment cancelled, but that this frequently doesn't work. If the shipment gets cancelled, I won't be billed, but if it doesn't I'm out for the shipping charges. I said, "How much do I have to pay for return postage?" and then the fucker said, "However much you choose." To top it all off, I can't even return the item to the store 2 miles from my house, I have to mail it back to them. I fucking hate, hate, hate CompUSA. And yes, BestBuy sucks too. It's not like I ever need technical help, but finding someone to unlock the damn case to get my item is painstaking. Sears is the only place I've had good experiences, and is probably the best place to buy electronics from short of the internet.

Heh, anybody ever look at how much those places charge for computer shit? 29.99 to install a program, 40 to remove a virus its fucking insane.

I get my computer work done from a local company. They do good work and they're accountable. Fuck the chains. Fuck them with clubs studded with rusty razor blades, then pour turpentine over their asses.

Galleazzo, did you write the internet thread for the "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" move? God damn, you sound just like the kids that they beat up at the end of the movie right then...

I know I'm going to get crap for this but ... I have to say it. When I go to buy something expensive, I look expensive. You shouldn't have to dress up to buy something, like its a job interview or something, but I've found over the years that the peons pay more attention to people who look like they can afford it. It sucks but its the truth. I also have a bitchy attitude and I'm not a bitch, but it freaking works.

Case in point. Several weeks ago, after a long day at work, my daughter asked me to go with her to pick out her new glasses. We went to one shop that advertized a special, and of course being my daughter she wanted the designer glasses. I was dressed in jeans, dirty tennis shoes and a white blouse. The woman was very condescending and unhelpful, until I got rude, demanding and bitchy to the max. I got her to price the deal for the dolce and cabana glasses, two for one, and then told her I was going to check out their competition. We left and didn't find a better deal, so I went back. The original manager was already gone and the night shift was on, they wouldn't honor the quoted price, I left. The next day I went in, dressed for the kill and went for the deal. I not only got the glasses but at a lower price than the original deal, I went in pissed and righteous. I probably got the night manager fired, do I care, hell no, because they judged me because of what I was wearing.
My advise is go to the top, don't waste time argueing with the customer service reps, if they refuse to get said manager, start raising your voice and making a scene. They HATE that.

I have to agree with your advice and your experiences as they mirror my own.

When I go shopping right after work when i'm in my profesional clothes rather than say jeans and a plain shirt I tend to get much better service and a better attitude.

It really should not be that way, but it is.

I know I'm right, I used to be in retail and the people who taught me these things were RICH people. They are never humble when they are buying and they are very very cheap, they think nothing of asking for discounts, knockdowns and when something is coming on sale. They develop relationships with the sales people so when something new and exciting comes in, or sales are going on, they get personal phone calls.

Our middle class mentality is that we have to *act* rich by not being concerned with how much something costs. That mentality being enforced by *if you have to ask you can't afford it* blah blah. WRONG! The rich are 10x more concerned than we are, most of the time. How do you think they got that way? I'm not really talking about the nouveu rich, but old money, the ones who have had it a few generations and intend on keeping it.
Most really rich do have the mercedes, but they are 5 years old, inpeccably kept.
Mansions filled with furnishings passed down and refurblished. Have family jewelry. Pay less taxes than we do, sign their own checks and keep a balance on the checking accounts, DON"T use credit cards unless they paid up before the interests hits.
I've worked with them many times in retail and when in real estate. The biggest bitchers when we redid our menu at the store and went up on some of the prices was the ones with the most money.
They are cheap cheap cheap, they don't believe in bling bling.

I agree with what Myshel said. It sucks that it works that way but generally it helps.

We went to get my laptop and brought my fire-breathing father with me. He is likely the nastiest person to try and scam on, and we walked into Bestbuy, told him what we were looking for, and proceeded to tell the salesman to not try and "fuck him over" because he would make sure it would be the saleman getting fucked. I just stood there and gaped. But, we did get a good deal in the end :D

Vehicle most commonly owned by millionaires is the Ford F150. I believe aging Buick LeSabres are only a bit behind.
