I am looking at starting a bard for loresinging purposes. At what training does a bard become a reliable loresinger? What should I train her in so that she is a reliable loresinger early on?

I’m no expert but I have always heard its based purely on level. If there were any skill involved I would imagine it would be MIU but no one has ever recommended it.

As far as what level you start to get consistent responses I want to say mid-teens. Early twenties definitely.

Hi Aylien

The two factors I am aware of for loresinging are level and (unconfirmed) bard songs. I know that by somewhere between 15 - 20 I was able to sing to anything.

Also, I recommend singing in the following key word order:

1) value
2) purpose
3) magic
4) special ability

I found qualitative improvements through level 40. I've had trouble with arcane-circle and some spiritual imbeds at that level, though.

You may want to progress to roughly the 40s to improve your gem singing. I find that I value the gem singing more than the loresinging but I suppose that will depend a lot on the person & character level.

Flat out, you will not be able to find out all the imbedded spells in items you find at level 20. In some instances, it took into my 50's to get what I felt was 100% of info from almost all items. Ranger and cleric spells specifically seem to run the hardest.

If you just want weapon/armor/shield info, then 25th is probably as high as you'll ever need to be.

The generic way of loresinging..

Loresing <item> in my hand;what's thy value of this land

Loresing <item> in my hand;what's thy purpose of this land

Loresing <item> in my hand;what's thy magic of this land

Loresing <item> in my hand;what's thy special ability of this land.

However, at younger levels I.E somewhere before 20-25 some loresongs require more than a 2 line verse in order to get the loresong to resonate with your song. Using the key words in that manner, trying to shortcut it as shown up above won't always work with the loresong. Don't be discouraged, you'll just have to add extra versus and words to the loresong in order to activate at younger levels.

As Galenok said, some items containing magic, the loresong when singing special ability won't tell you the exact spell that's inside, just the spell circle. I've had this problem happen very minimally since level 25, but does still happens on occasion at even level 31.

The more even your lines are, at an earlier age, the easier it will be... so if the second line is tending to be longer than the first, instead of just singing shield, try adding vultite shield or studded vultite shield, or whatever, or something to make both lines about the same length.

I know one guy who just sings this and laughed my ass off. It works, though, at least at later levels.

blah blah blah shield blah blah
yada yada yada value yada yada

I can loresing just about everything with a level 13 bard. It's all about line length, rhyme, punctuation (yes, really), sequence, and key words.
