It wasn't fishy at all. The owner of the bow took it back from person who was using/borrowing/sharing it, she raged about it, cussed out GMs alot, and got told tough tittays for a few reasons why.
On top of that, she got served yet again, by being ejected out of the thing she belonged to, not showing how upstanding one should be and all.

It sounds like the issue is still very much in question, GMs are involved, and things are not settled. In that instance, I can see not wanting to point fingers and name names yet.
Though I admit to a great deal of curiousity.
Allen (whom I trust completely) sells an ebow. Claims he got it from Anebriated. Anebriated claims that there has been shafting to the tune of $1k. There's obviously more than meets the eye here. I look forward to the eventual retelling once it's all settled.

Heh. I'm the name behind the stolen bow. Let me explain what happened. Fall of 2010 Anebriated became deathly ill, he took a 2 month absence from GS and upon recontacting me I welcomed him back into my life. I set up his account with my credit card, and continued paying for it through, I believe, June 2011. During that time Anebriated did 3 droughtmans runs. 2 which he paid for via GOA's to his account and 1 he paid for by clicking the buy button and charging it to my credit card without my permission or knowledge. He admitted to me he had done that later and had done so in hopes of winning something that would benefit us both. It is more then likely that the ebow in question was won on the run that I paid for. Now following the run there was no here you can use this.. it was handed to me as a gift.. no ingame strings attached, no financial agreement. A gift.
Few months later and Anebriated comes into a financial issue and demands the bow back. I site the reasons above and tell him no. Personal issues keep him from playing recently but all the while we communicated in texts and IM and continued being best friends. Nothing was wrong between us until I woke up the morning of July 13th to find a goodbye email. Okay, I am sad for sure but I can deal. Then I access my account and find that my ebow and my 5x vhcp brig is GONE. I become frantic and I report/assist.
I cussed, not at a GM, but more like I'm getting fucked here. ZOMG end of world. I apologized for being a pain. I was just pretty emo about all the stuff that had just happened.
The GM's initially say they can't help, but offer feedback as an option to take my issue further. I used it. Feedback tracked his logins, handing off of items and the transfer of his account to another player.
Because they are unable to confirm some things about the situation they did the only thing they felt they could - they removed the items from the persons possession and kept them. They were not returned to me. And some action of account banning took place on Anebriated's side.
After my frantic interaction with the GM's I was pulled into Alyias office and we had a conversation in which I was removed from office. Simu has agreed this was handled poorly. I was told I'm NOT a paying customer when I am in an OOC conversation with a GM - I am an officer. I was also told that by my reporting that someone (now I believe Allen) was in possession of a character (the tres of BHA with access to house verbs and accounts) that could potentially harm the house was causing drama - a reason for ejection. I did not contact anyone in game but rather just sent an email directly to Alyias concerning the acct transfer - keeping him informed as I had previously been instructed to do. I stated I had no proof but because of a whisper from the character that they were not the character - I had concern for the house funds. I thought I was doing the right thing by protecting the house. My bad.
Am I a whiner? yeah. Am I a bitch - OH YEAH. Things I already know. Are there people out there that hate me? Sure! and they got a good giggle today.
Am I going to lose sleep over your opinions of me? Heh. NOPE.
Troll on!

So you claim anebriated purposefully tried to take advantage of your kindness and stole from you?
Not to call you a liar but I find it hard to believe. I suspect there's more information which is being held back, maybe for personal reasons. There just has to be more that happened than "he stole my stuff and tried to have someone else sell it" considering he's been around and known for a long long time.

Nevermind, allen just answered the question I was going to ask.
What's odd as heck about this (and similar) situations to me is that the GMs response used to be "Don't share your account information" and that was their boiler-plate answer to problems like this. I don't remember them getting involved in this kind of dispute, because once you give someone your password, you're on your own...

When there were well over 1000 people playing it wad easy enough to take this stance. But now, we have a smaller community and people tend to be more trusting in these. Maybe now they feel the need to protect their much smaller user base, as I can see losing an item with a value of over $1000 would be reason enough for many people to quit.
Oh alright.
So why is it more than likely he won the e-bow on the run you paid for?

I'm not surprised by anything I hear about account sharing any more. I don't give a damn about what actually happened, however any time you share account info shit just seems to happen.
We'll never know exactly what happened here and in the end it'll just devolve into a battle of he said/she said. Frankly, I am just inclined to believe a bunch of negative crap happened that ruined a friendship. We hear it pretty regularly here.
I didn't pay for any runs, Anebriated won the bow, period. It should be given back to him.

She said that
It is more then likely that the ebow in question was won on the run that I paid for.
And I'm asking why it is more than likely it was won on that run that she paid for. If he paid for two runs and she paid for one, chances should be greater than he won it on one of the runs he paid for, no?
Drakefang

I didn't pay for any runs, Anebriated won the bow, period. It should be given back to him.
I think she was referring to Tabrina. Tabrina made the claim that the run she paid for was the one he won the bow on.
And I'm asking why it is more than likely it was won on that run that she paid for. If he paid for two runs and she paid for one, chances should be greater than he won it on one of the runs he paid for, no?
Some of this is going to come down to the definition of the word give. Did he give her the bow in thanks or did he give her the bow as a loaner?
I was wondering why we got the message we did regarding being a House Officer. I guess this is it.

I'll start by saying that I'm a very private person. I grew up a Jehovahs Witness and unless you were part of the church you were considered to be a "worldly" person and a bad person. So growing up I had no friends because I was not allowed to play with anyone outside of the church.
When I became a teenager I found Gemstone and got hooked. It was an escape from a life that I didn't agree with. I was only allowed to play for an hour here or there and spent most of my time being a twat dragging bodies out of TSC to decay and whatnot. But having a place where I could be someone different than who I was forced to be was salvation.
Eventually I got out on my own and came back to GS. I played on and off for a few years, never really making any close friends. I was part of the Trophy Room gang when Debia, Jubuls, the original Tijay, Xak, etc used to hang there.
Anyway, fast forward about 9 years from there and it brings us to last year. I guess I should also tell you that I am a 28 year old bisexual male, I'm not a girl but it's sometimes fun to play around. I have been in a relationship for 4 years now with someone I care about very deeply. Unfortunately that person had a drinking problem and it got out of control. One night he decided to swallow a tube of pills and drink himself to death. I woke up at 4am to find him barely breathing. I called 911 and they rushed him to the hospital where he stayed for awhile. He went into rehab from there and got help for his drinking problem but I wasn't alright. His suicide attempt affected me in ways that I wasn't prepared for. I became severely depressed myself and sunk into gemstone like a tick. It was getting harder and harder for me to get out of bed in the morning and I started missing more and more work. I eventually was let go, which made me sink even further into GS.
Thankfully I was able to make silvers in the game and sell them to the PC community. Had it not been for all of you, I wouldn't have made it over the last year, financially or mentally. That is also part of the reason why Myklians changing was hard on me. I was using gemstone to survive and to pay my bills. It became a full time job. When Myklians were changed I realized my life was about to become much more difficult and I freaked out. I was already in a bad place because of the suicide attempt and I no longer knew how to deal with anything.
So where does that leave me now. Unfortunately I have a drug problem. I smoke marijuana every day. I don't like taking pills to be normal, so I turned to drugs to stabilize my mood and help me feel better. Most of the time I am alright, but every now and then I turn into an ugly monster, which is what you see from time to time on lnet.
So, this is the mess that is my life. Feel free to make fun of me now in typical PC fashion. I'm sorry if I have insulted you personally. Please know that it wasn't personal if I went off on you. I have a lot of problems that I don't know how to deal with or overcome. I have become someone that I don't want to be, so I am sorry if I have affected you negatively because of it.

If this bow was indeed worth 1000 real dollars why would he give it to you as a gift? How good of friends are you that he would do such a thing? Sure I've given away things before that were worth a few million silvers but nothing even close to over 100 million silvers worth. That's just crazy.
Also even if the run he won the bow on was the one you paid for who cares? That's like paying for someone to enter a drawing contest then after they do all of the work in said contest you demand any and all winnings they receive. Why are you entitled to it? Because you paid for it and didn't do any of the work involved? He should give you the cost of the run back but that's about it.
Although if what you say is true that he took the items from your account without your permission then gave them to Allen to sell well, I'll admit that's pretty fucked up too but don't come off sounding like you did no wrong here.

Wow.... I'd like to think that most of the people who post on PC on a regular basis would agree that I wasn't deliberately trying to move a stolen item under the radar. I just want to sum up every single merchant thread that starts with some kind of "I know something you don't know" teasing post for the drama-addicts. Invariably Widgets will be the one who posts it, Inspire will show up and say how shady it is, and people rabble back and forth with him about the irony of his accusations. If the situation becomes clear eventually in the thread, it's either not at all noteworthy or it doesn't relate at all to any of the people panting with excitement about the flurry of posts. Oh yeah, and if Rogane showed up to say anything at all, Inspire probably called him an alcoholic.
I've been avoiding threads that follow these trends. It's kind of nice. I'd recommend it to anyone here.

Basic rules: possession is 9/10ths of the law. Without an email, or a text, or something to prove Anebrieted was loaning the bow and not giving it, it's a gift. The receiver can't be asked to read his mind in assuming that a 100m xbow is a loan, and not a gift. And the giver has to keep the proof that it's a loan.
In short, don't hand over possession of shit without clearly stating the intention of giving it over.

We used to liquidate accounts and had access to numerous characters with hundreds of millions in items and silvers and the only shady thing that ever happened was when Rocksand was talking about how great of a cyberer he was.
As for this whole thing, it reminds me of the whole Composer fiasco. The original one and his chick Abysso or Alysso or something. Anyways, I very seriously doubt that Allen was trying to move a stolen item knowingly.

Its called "Malicious Unauthorized Access" and has been done for a very long time now.

I also vouch for Allen, he's always been a stand up guy, I think he got caught in the middle of something very bad.
I think Alyias and feedback followed policies exactly as they have been written, and taken care of business. Up to feedback to make any final decisions as to the status of the items, lockouts, officer status, etc.
The bottom line as someone said, don't give access to your PW to anyone, and don't give over items you don't expect back. In all the years I been merchanting, I've lost ZERO items. Sure, my chainspear went missing for nearly a year, but the guy eventually came back and got it back to me, and Gizmo disappeared for a long time with stuff, and first thing he did when coming back was fix the damage.
In all this time, I've given my account PW to only ONE person, and I changed it after, for a maze run I simply couldn't make a few months ago, and honestly, I trust her with my life after the 15+ years I've known her, went to her RL wedding, had her in my home numerous times, played with her kids, and doing a games2u party for her soon enough.
But as I said, I still changed it after, I gave her access for ONE thing, and that's it. That is simply being on top of your account security, and that is your job, not Simu's.

Sorry but selling stolen property makes you a scammer. If he had sold that item to another person for silvers/cash, GM's would NOT have refunded the person who paid him.

Did he know the "owner" of said bow went onto the OTHER account to get the bow back? Yes.

It is important to remember Anebriated was using Tabrina's credit card to buy entrance to paid events without her knowledge. that makes him the dirtbag, not Allen and not her.
If I found someone had done that to me, I would...well nevermind. Most people (and I) would never allow ourselves to be put in that situation. Why the fuck would you pay for someone else's account(s) like that? Unless you are living with and fucking it, no way. If you want to be kind or help out, that is what GoAs are for.
It isnt even illegal what he did, although you could get recoupment in civil court unless he is gamer geek basement dweller unemployed broke...
The part that is hard to believe is Tabrina, after getting the bow and not meaning to give it back (either it was a "gift" or her saying "fuck you thief, this will be mine now for using my CC"), did NOT change her password. There is some dysfunctional personality shit going on up in here somewhere.
And, seriously, Inspire just stop. You are not being clever, you sound like a high school sophmore trying to be clever and get a rise out of Allen. /facepalm fail on that front.

The sad part of the issue is this wouldn't be happening if said item was only worth 1 mil.
Does the event payer have privilege to items won by actual participant? No.
Should participant repay event payers? Yes

Anebriated should have just given her 1/3 of the ebow sale as it was a 1/3 chance it was won on the run she paid for, stayed friends, not caused drama by trying to sneak in a third party to sell the item surreptitiously, and called it a day. That would have been the RIGHT thing to do. It's a shame allen got caught in the middle of a guy trying to wheel and deal his way to a grand.

Anebriated
07-16-2011, 08:05 PM
Heh. NOPE.
Troll on!
There is some truth in what she said. I was deathly ill in the fall and she did in fact pay for my account for the time period she listed(about 6 months) when I returned(I didnt ask her to but I wasnt going to come back to the game at the time due to monetary reasons and she insisted). Thats about where it ends.
-the brig is HCP not VHCP(minor in the big picture and irrelevant to the majority of what happened)
-I attended 4 regular droughtmans runs as well as 1 semi-final run. (not 3)
-I did buy the first of the tickets without GoA via her credit card at a time when it might not have been the best for her and she might not have fully understood what I was asking. I had paypalled her the funds for the run and then clicked the buy ticket button after talking to her about it but she was unfamiliar with paypal and I had to walk her through how to withdraw the money to her bank account after she realized that I had already bought the ticket. It was a mistake but an honest one.
-I bought 3 more runs via GoA to avoid future trouble after that.
-I won my run(Baliar's win) [edit2: and the bow] very late in the runs, maybe 80s? It was my 4th and final run. I paid for all 3 of my final runs after I enjoyed the initial run.
As far as what you said about nothing being said in game, that might be true. Id have to sort through logs to know for sure but the fact of the matter is we spoke via game, AIM and Vent frequently. Conversations often migrated seamlessly between the 3 mediums so theres a chance when we spoke about it in game it wasnt documented IN GAME).
You also are skipping quite a few gaps in time and quite a few details on the time since the win till today but let me fill in some info..
Immediately I told you that you could use the bow because I have no archers but I very well might have to sell it due to my monetary issues(having played a Ranger/Archer years ago and always wanting an ebow I found it very hard to sell right away). You were sad but understood. Over time you assumed it would never happen. I tried everything to make it work so we could keep the bow and I could do what I needed to IRL including working 2 jobs. Then a month or two ago you demanded an ultimatum of me being around more for you or breaking up with your character, Tabrina, yet remaining friends. The problem arose when I told you that I dont have the time to give you what you wanted due to everything going on IRL(was working two jobs to keep the damn bow while paying off my bills and I was moving into a new apt and I was helping my parents move to delaware). You went off the wall that I could have made such a decision and we had a long conversation about why despite you not really understanding. Eventually after an hour or two of you laying into me about my decision we had determined that we were indeed through and I asked for you to return my bow, which you immediately declined and went to the story of it being a gift. During this dispute after I had asked for the return of the bow I explained my intentions of using the proceeds from the sale to pay for a year of your account as repayment for what you did for me. Didnt matter, it was "yours". [EDIT1: At this time I also told you that you could keep the brig, all I wanted was the bow. When you told me "You'll never get a single silver from me" it was pretty clear that you lied when you once said that if we ever broke up we would split our wealth 50/50.]
I was at a crossroads at the time. Had I known I could have done what you just did to me and called the GMs into play they mentioned in my dealings with them that they would have probably just returned it to me then after we had sorted things out. Unfortunately I didnt go that route as it would have been a much easier road for me. Hindsight is 20/20. Instead a day or two later you were calmer and approached me and after I told you I was intending to sell my accounts to raise some money as I didnt really feel like playing after having the bow basically stolen from me we "worked things out". The difference after that is I had lost all trust in you. I wasnt around much still, playing mostly my bard when I was because you were... well... you. Bottom line is I knew I had to get my items back and be rid of you. You were a cancer to my stress levels in those months that I was back. The stress that you induced via your emotional tilt-a-whorl was not worth the hassle(there were countless arguments from her over petty things that mostly boiled down to my not being around as much as I was before my hospital trip, text messages demanding an explanation on why I hadnt told you where I was that day or creepily sappy ones). Spending less time around the game I saw more and more how much it all was affecting me and so I decided it was time to hang it up for awhile. Unfortunately for me this realization came after my internet had been shut off at my old house and it was a week or so before I was up and running in the new apartment. It was at that time that I went and retrieved what was rightfully mine. I left you with all of the little things that I gave you as "gifts" but took the 3 items that I had always intended as and considered mine. Had I wanted to be malicious in any way I could have gone after any number of the items you have stashed away as their value is over 100m. Your clothing collection is enough to make most women in this game get hot and bothered, that would have been an easy target.
The bottom line is you felt scorned by my actions and then lied to the GMs to get my accounts banned. Only when I sent them a little email to give them some of the details you omitted(sensing a pattern?) they unbanned my account.
As far as the house stuff. I only accepted the position because I was approached by a few members asking me to do it and I accepted. I had tried to reach someone a few times in the time leading up to this in order to get his house status fixed as I couldnt resign as an officer under my own power that I could figure out. It was done for me once you went to the GMs.
The majority of these events were documented and could be verified from the numerous people who know us and that I have spent time venting to. I wont ask any of them to step up but wouldnt mind it if they did. I might not get the bow back but at least you dont have it now.

-I won my run(Baliar's win) very late in the runs, maybe 80s?
EDIT: At this time I also told you that you could keep the brig, all I wanted was the bow. When you told me "You'll never get a single silver from me" it was pretty clear that you lied when you once said that if we ever broke up we would split our wealth 50/50.
Against my better judgement I'm going to write the following and tell you the truth about my life.
Whatever you say, Insane.

This is why dating "girls" in gemstone, is fucking retardedly stupid.
Especially crazy ones that take it so serious, like it's some legit relationship.
No offense to you Aneb, but you were stupid in that sense. Everything else though, I hope works out for you with the bow

That means you waited for her not to be around, signed into her account behind her back and handed off the items to your character because you knew she wasnt going to do it herself I assume? Thats a pretty serious lack of judgement. Definitely reporting or emailing a GM would've been way more wise. I think its funny when people do the "I coulda done worse, its not like I raped anyone!" thing.
You were a cancer to my stress levels in those months that I was back. The stress that you induced via your emotional tilt-a-whorl
Who says women are the only dramatic ones. She was a cancer on your stress levels? Maybe exaggerate a little more. People in gemstone dont text me, its pretty easy to get them not to. You just dont give them your cell phone number.
I also think its strange someone so stressed about money would spend $90-120 on maze runs hoping for something to sell. Kinda like buying lottery tickets hoping to win big instead of buying groceries...

It is important to remember Anebriated was using Tabrina's credit card to buy entrance to paid events without her knowledge. that makes him the dirtbag, not Allen and not her.

No no, take on a second job so your in game girlfriend can keep using an e-bow. In my opinion you lose a few notches of awesome for that.
In light of that I wonder what her text messages were to him while he was working? "You make enough money today to support my in game habits?"
