Pocket wizard question

I'm planning to roll with a dual account.

Wizard would be supporting my Paladin.

Would my wizard still get exp. if he just casted ewave to knockdown folks or would he have to do some damage as well?

He would need to do damage -- you can easily just setup with 505 (with 20 ranks of air lore), and then clobber it with the paladin.
