Against like level mobs, can pures successfully defend against CMANs? In warcamps can pures defend the tackles/disarms or the charge manuevers in Nelemar?

Do smaller races, like halflings, suffer a lower defense against large mob's CMAN manuevers? Like tackle, charge, shield bash...?

With respect to cmans, my experience with a halfling wizard in warcamps is way better than a halfling rogue. I think the main advantages are that spells can be fired off a lot faster for disabling effects, you don't need to stance up, and you can move in the soft RT, and large amounts of DS coming from spells. Wizards might be especially good out of the pures. Ball spells help, 909 recurs (more knockdowns per mass spell), and I just keep 506 running if I'm in a warcamp. Halfings have defensive bonuses and offensive penalties so no, they don't have an especially hard time.

Though, the rogue has never been crit-killed with a cman. I've definitely taken a fatal shield bash with my wizard. That sort of thing has only happened a few times, though.

I would not put TPs into CMAN for a pure until post cap, they are tertiary skills at best for casters.

Once capped, my mage eventually got 5 ranks of CMAN DISARM, I got tired of Ithzir jants whacking at his runestaff.

:D

Against like-level creatures, your only chance of not getting hit is having 5 ranks in the skill with which they are attacking. Keep in mind that squares will be hit by like-level CMAN attacks that they don't know. The idea is to mitigate the penalties of being hit by any number of ways.
