LOL. The whole time I was reading that, I kept thinking that it sounded like something the SA Goons would do. Sure enough, it was them. Damn, that's great. SA rules.

Basically, this guy was selling a G4 Powerbook on eBay. This scammer contacted him to try and buy it, using an escrow website he recommended.
The seller (who is a member of the somethingawful.com boards) recognized the website as a personal website of someone, and not a real escrow service. So, he and his buddies decided to string along the scammer - to even the point of sending a Powerbook made of cardboard to England, declaring the value as $2100 so the guy would have to pay like $300 in duty. The website details all their antics, including some English members, staking out the delivery address for the arrival of the package.

Well, if you look at the links on the page there are links to all different mirrors. A few of the links give updates, but they are buried in a message board.
The guy did receive his package, and supposedly there is audio of him being pissed off when he opens it.

Yeah, that's a wildly elaborate scheme.

Good, see Team Spider was on top of it.
"Basically, everyone in the thread went fucking ballistic. We had all thought that FedEx had sent it out for delivery, and just didn't update the site. After we thought it arrived, our men left. Before Starbucks left, he set the screen savers on the computers upstairs to scroll: "P-P-P-POWERBOOK!" "

I want to be part of a scam busting operation like this! Some sort of PC task force would be fun. Yes, easily amused here.
