I just attempted to post a log of the empath using 240 + 111 in a troll camp... but it failed.... lemme try something different.

Nice. Once I finish training my empath in a couple skills I'll have to try that out.

To be technical, you are correct, however to be anecdotal, having 111 and 117 and lores to boost the staying power of 117 and rapid fire for 111 regardless if you are using 240 or 117 still makes the spell amazingly powerful in troll warcamps. I never said it was wonderful using all three. I was just pointing out that 111+117+rapidfire is amazingly effective with a GoS empath and their ability to regain mana and then surge themselves.

But I digress and bow to your superiority.

Strategically, I rarely stack 117 and 111. Three reasons, first, it costs SO MUCH MANA. Second, if their bolt DS is high enough to avoid a normal cast, I'm probably better off using something CS based. Third is I have no blessing lore to cause repeat effects, and blessing lore isn't on the slate for a long long time, after I get more summoning lore. I'd probably be best off trying to dispel wizard shield or wall of force on things that have defense high enough to avoid the bolts, but now we're getting technical.

You really don't even need 117 or blessing lore, or 240. Just hit them. Once it hits, the splash goes off, and despite what Danical said being true... that the damage is crap, it's still damage, and on trolls, that's enough to keep them from regenning... burn baby burn. 117 and 240 sure do help in making sure it will hit. No argument there.
