Hello guys, I'm a returning player and wanted to see the pros and cons of sorcerers vs wizards.
I currently have a 36 sorcerer and a new level 7 wizard. I can't really seem to decide which would be more fun to play with.
I love the fact that wizards get enchant, but what are some good things I can look forward to sorcerers?
Thanks!

Did you know that wizards are really lucky because they can enchant their own weapons at later trains?

Commiserating about how completely awful your profession has become.
Also, scroll infusion, cross-realms travel, demon summoning, selectable reactive spell flares, and the ability to remote kill through a floating eye, among others.

Rumor has it, if you roll really well during the character creation process you can enchant your own armor as well.

Wow... so you guys are pretty unanimous about wizards are the way to go?

Wizards are fairly versatile, with 3 fairly distinct builds you can pull off depending on your level. Warmage, Bolting Mage, and Immo Mage. You can blend those three a bit, especially the last two, but there are some definite advantages in specializing. They also have strong defense and utility spells.
Pros: Money making utility spells, versatile hunting styles, strong combat utility spells (Haste, Temporal Reversion, Mana Leech, etc).
Cons: Weak against spiritual magic, poor lore implementation outside of Fire lore/Immolation and Air/Haste, bolts can be evaded.
Sorcerers are fairly straight forward. Their lores should be primarily considered from a utility standpoint, rather than combat or combat utility. Your attack spells will be 702, 705, and 719. These spells are greatly dependant on possessing a high CS, so those looking for strength in the field will want to triple Spell Training as much as possible. Doing so minimizes plinking but cuts down on utility for spells such as 714, 725, and 730. Planar Shift is an excellent, but dangerous spell for X-realms travel.
Pros: Strong defensively due to hybrid protection, ability to spell tank with Scroll Infusion, relatively inexpensive X-realms travel at will.
Cons: Fairly 1-dimensional hunters, lack of significant lore-based damage modifiers, lackluster implementation of marquee spells (725, 730)
Conclusion: I greatly enjoyed hunting a wizard near/past cap. The Immo build really comes into their own right around that time. The ability to keep haste running nonstop in combat scenarios is amazing. Sorcerers are excellent in combat if you focus solely on that pursuit, but the more you do so, the less they are able to do (well) outside of a hunting scenario. Overall, I would suggest a wizard over a sorcerer, as I think a better balance can be struck between combat/non-combat play.
And they both squish as easily as dog shit.

Wizards can summon wolves.
There's only one choice.

Ok, seems like my 36 sorcerer is going on retirement. I'll either play my warrior or wizard from now on I guess.
In all seriousness, I would have thought it a better way to figure out which is more fun simply by playing them all and deciding for yourself.
The pros and cons we've supplied are only mechanical.
The actualy playing of each profession provides different people with different experiences. I suggest you level up your wizard to a similar train as your sorc and then spend a few weeks as each.
Good luck!

Aishian> Wolf!
Woosh!
Read what I'm really saying.
Meh it doesn't matter anyway. My only basis for Aishan beating the wolf was because of its awesome Langolier teeth. :/

Yeah. That is admittedly pretty slick. Maybe I should've been more oblique in my Two Worlds 2 references.
