WHEN ARE THESE FUCKING CICADAS GOING TO DIE ALREADY

I'm getting so sick of the constant buzz everywhere outside.

Move to Newfoundland. We don't have any cicadas. Then again, we still don't have any leaves on any of the trees up here either.

Anyone with a solution that isn't worse than the problem?

Deal with it. You can't fight mother nature.

Have the fraternity rush boys eat them as part of initiation?

Oddly, I haven't heard any yet. Maybe, like everything else in Delaware, ours are just behind on the times.

<<You can't fight mother nature.>>

Someone doesn't understand cause and effect.

Burn them, they die. Where's mother nature then?

I've merged those two ideas and let my Newfoundland eat the cicadas.

Mowing the lawn gives me a new found pleasure as well.

Only every 17 years, guy. Gotta wait it out is all.

That or play Manowar CDs at top volume for a few months.

Burn them, they die. Where's mother nature then? You have obviously never witnessed a cicada infestation. They are literally everywhere. Burning would be a waste of time, especially on a college campus if thats where he is at the present.

Heh, there was a special on the news here about all these people that have been showing up at ER's with rashes because they've been eating them.

But, if you're not allergic to shellfish, they're safe to eat.

Eew. Just eew! We did not get inundated this year, thankfully. Poor Edaarin. I feel your pain. That is the most irritating sound! Sorta like continuous chalk-on-chalk-board effect. Gah!

I do not think there is anything you can do, though. There are just too many of the little horrors. You will just have to wait it out.:S

HarmNone...yes, we have no cicadas

Burn down a few thousand, the rest will get the message. And even if they don't, it's a hell of a lot of fun, I bet.

Umm...you could move to AZ. They don't usually show up until August and then only stick around for a few months or so and there aren't that many.

But...I'm sure it has something to do with the +100 degree dry heat we have that deters them.

What is a cicada? :?:

*bump*

I take back my excitement of waiting for them to come. I'm ready for the BUZZING to CEASE! They make the most irritating noise ever... and I definitely don't remember hearing it as a kid.

When I was a kid we called them locusts, though they really look nothing like grasshoppers. They're large winged insects that fly around, often flying into people. They make this warbling buzzing noise and they never shut up. This year is a big year for them so they're out in droves, millions of them all warbling as loud as they can.

They'd make a great horror movie.

Yea X lets go get millions of spiders to run around.. cause that's even better.

Millions?

If they know there's predators nearby, they will most likely just go elsewhere.

And "million" of spiders cannot survive if there isn't "million" of prey.

I have I'd estimate at least 500 on my property (between my front yard, back yard, deck and roof) And I don't have a ton of land. I've seen articles that quote "billions". Most cities have seen "millions".

Cicada's are dumb, they won't run from predators. You could walk right up to them and pick them up if you wanted. I'm not even sure spiders would eat them, they're probably too big for that.

Fire, on the other hand, will eat anything. Thus, my idea is still the best.

Solution: Import big ones. Like this one.
