Once chosen, an animal companion is permanent. Your only choice is to roll up a completely new ranger.

Can they go away if you get them pissed off at you enough?

They're lying to you.

And what you 'heard' is just like how I heard if you tap a coin in sea nymphs they'll spawn more.

It'll just take longer to summon. You might not be able to summon it for awhile. You still won't ever break the bond.

i want it to unbond so that i can get a new companion ..

You nock a forest green arrow in your ruic long bow.
You fire a forest green arrow at a leaf woodchuck!
AS: +258 vs DS: +145 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +83 = +226
... and hit for 71 points of damage!
Deft strike to the back cracks vertebrae!
Your woodchuck drags himself away, leaving a trail of blood behind.
The arrow sails to the ground.
Roundtime: 6 sec.

Even if you unlearn the spell or reroll your character, you cannot break the animal companion bond. Once you relearn the spell, you will have the SAME companion.

There was a *very* brief moment where Mestys allowed people to switch companions right when the spell came out by going through some arches, but it was, I hear, a very messy bit of coding and it's been stated that it will never happen again.

When companions were first released there was an option unbind for the first 30 days or so. That was because no one really knew what companion abilities were.

So the answer is true, some were able to choose another companion but only if they did so within the first 30 days of companions being released. That is not an option any longer and was never intended to be.

You should have just made it a white image and sold it to James Franco.

Although I would appreciate a series of Wile E. Coyote esque schemes where Jennyfer comes up with increasingly ridiculous ways to get rid of her companion.

Next she'll try a scales trap followed by a meteor swarm.

Woodchucks can apparently still chuck after being shot in the head.
