I have mixed success with hunting at my level (mostly boils wreck my day) and can do pretty well if I hunt things that are 3 to 5 levels lower. I'm going for smite, possibly channeling with a runestaff. I have a few questions:

First, what do I do with armor training? I don't know what they are.

Second, aligning. Is there something that can explain what the benefits are for each God?

Third, is going to brig worth it? I'll get a 7% spell failure, is the extra bonuses worth it? Do I need to get 35 trains or 28?

Is there something else that gives ranks like armor training?

Is my training plan ok?

:help:

Clerics get shield use and brawling cheaper than any other pure. I'd recommend taking advantage of that. Also, if you are going smite and have no plans to use spell aim, then get rid of it and use those points train in some spells. My cleric is 1x shield, .5x brawling, and 2.75x spells and can hunt fine. Like you said, boil is pretty wicked, but it always will be and there isn't much you can do besides get padded armor or 2x PF.

What society are you?

You don't even need brawling for DS really, if your TP's are tight right now.

You may also try zombies -> moaning spirits -> pookas.

I feel your pain about the boils.. been there, did that.

The benefit of brigandine is: you're harder to kill.

The benefit of double leather is: you won't have spell hindrance.

You have to pick the one that benefits your playstyle more. It's 35 ranks for brigandine.

Only armor training gives you benefits to wearing armor.

I'm in Voln.

I also have another question. The training points you earn, are they for your current level or do they go towards your next level. I haven't played since you had to check in at the inn 12 years ago.

Brawling would be a HUGE benefit to you because of Voln-fu if you want to add another combat style to your repertoire.

Basically the process works like this now...

HIT LEVEL 5: the system re-optimizes your training (IE: 2x skill might now be 1x skill and so you get some TP's back because of that); you get a couple of TP's

ADVANCE THROUGH LEVEL 5: at regular intervals you get TP's

HIT LEVEL 6: same as hitting level 5

So yes, they go towards your next level. However, this system is far superior to the prior so don't dwell on missing the old method.
