I've been working for defense contractors for the last 6 years, stateside and in combat zones. Never did physical security, but I've worked for some big ones (50,000+ employees).

All I can recommend is that you make the move soon. With the draw down in Afghanistan and Iraq, the demand for contractors is decreasing, and I assume physical security type jobs will be some of the first to go.
