I played this game several times and loved it but cannot remember the name of it. I played it in the late 90's early 2000's. The premise was a shoot through game where you were some kind of space commando that went through a space station and killed aliens. The play style was set up like contra in terms of how the character was able to move and such, not sure if thats considered 2D third person or not. Anyways you would go through these levels and aliens would randomly swarm you in given spots and you had cool weapons to try to deal with them and some aliens were easily to kill than others. Also I remember that the aliens made a distinct loud noise like a weird shout or scream when they were around or as they broke in and attacked you. Was a really fun and cool game and would like to find and buy it again. Any insight would be appreciated!
I want to say the aliens were even similar to the aliens movie aliens, but in looking at some of their games they didn't like up. Freaking sweet solo shooter game though, mad respect if someone is able to track this down for me as google has been failing me thus far!

Sounds like it might be Xenophobe, try searching on that?

Tried Xenophobe and thats a little too far back. I think this was strictly for the PC. Its graphics were pretty darned good for its time. The only way I could describe the shooting method is similar to contra but far more advanced than it. I guess you could say it had the movement characteristics of a diablo, but you could only move linearally. You could jump and maybe climb walls...but pretty much you moved back and forth or up and down. Halo isn't it either.
Was it a side scroller or a 3d shooter?

Duck Tales actually was what I was looking for...Kept forgetting that the shooter was actually just scrooge mcduck. I do miss launchpad, their spin-off show made me want to kill myself though.
Duck Tales ooOOOooo, something something something something, Duck Tales oooOOOooo.

complete lyrics:
Life is like a hurricane, here in Duck Burg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes, it's a duck blur
Might solve a mystery, or rewrite history!
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Everyday they're out there making,
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Tales of daring-do bad and good
Duck Tales (woo oo)
When it's seems they're headed for the final curtain
Bold deduction never fails, that's for certain
The worst of messes become successes!
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Everyday they're out there making,
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Tales of daring-do bad and good
Duck Tales (woo oo)
D-D-Danger lurks behind you
There's a stranger out to find you
What to do? just grab on to some
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Everyday they're out there making,
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Tales of daring-do bad and good
Duck Tales (woo oo)
Not pony tails or cotton tails
No, Duck Tales (woo oo)

This makes me want to play Myst. Or Commander Keen. Or Syndicate. Or Merit's Galactic Reunion.
I'm not that random on these boards, but I'll branch out and tell you all, in confidence, that I used Quenzar's Caverns and Worms 2 .wav files to create my sound strings in GS.

Oh man Quenzar's Caverns. That was the one where they ripped off Holy Grail right? I remember saving all my grenades for the end guy.
Did anyone else play Rise of the Triad? Loved that game when I was younger.

It was a pretty radical departure from Wolf3d and Doom. Probably would seem crap now but was innovative then.

What was that game where one of the first things you did was beat a prison guard to death with his own leg?

Rise of the Triad piqued my interest in recreational drug use after activating a shroom trip with a cheat code.

Rise of the Triad was amazing. Going back even further, anyone remember the Apogee games before they did Wolfenstein? Crystal Caves, etc?
Oh man, that shit was awesome.
